An unreal trip to Nashville earlier in the year saw me direct a series of live performances by the one and only @needtobreathe
Captured in the @historicrcastudioa this was a tremendous experience working with the gents on the cusp of releasing their 10th album, The Long Surrender. It was the largest crew I what worked with stateside and I was blown away by the team @tinyterrorproductions put together for it. A class act at every level and a real privilege to be part of. The performances speak for themselves, flawless and wonderfully heavier and rougher than the album in all the right ways.
Iâve been making documentaries about this band on and off for the last number of years and itâs been a joy. Often you can get pigeon holed and seen in one guise so to have the band trust me to direct this was very touching.
With these live sessions I wanted to combine those worlds. I wanted it to feel like a documentary of a band in the studio. We were there documenting them playing live as opposed to them being there for the purpose of being filmed. That was my goal.
