A few months ago, I saw a sketch that became an INSTANT favorite. That sketch is “can you take a photo of us?” by Tiny Idea — and I’m SO thrilled that they’ve allowed me to share the script for you all to read and learn from!
And truly, there is so much to learn. SUCH a great, clean reveal of the Fun/Unusual thing (that the person has taken photos that they couldn’t possibly have taken). And! Because that Unusual Thing is so clear, it can heighten to TRULY unexpected places. A great example of how getting specific in your Unusual Thing actually gives you so much MORE freedom to explore.
The beats heighten beautifully, and are a great reminder that heightening isn’t just about doing the Unusual Thing bigger and harder, but also about picking great *specifics* that are so, so funny. (Otherwise, heightening beats would just be a math problem. And it’s not!)
There’s no Resting the Game in this one — just 3 minutes of beatbeatbeatbeatbeat. And a GREAT calibration of the Voice of Reason dial. Eva and Ann draw attention to the Unusual Thing and help set up beats, without slowing down the fun.
Also — incredible editing.
