‘FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION’ - a recent series I started working on, featuring masks of the world which are used to ward off evil spirits. Because you know, there are way too many of those around these days.
An artist whose work I really admire told me recently, “just try and make things 3 levels more nuts than you intended”. And I guess that was the only wisdom I was looking for this year when making things. Crazy is where the magic happens.
Do I have a third thing to say? Yeah, I do. Creativity is vulnerable. The more you become yourself in your practice, the more naked you feel. And Melbourne is starting to get chilly. It’s tempting to hide under a few extra layers or covers. But I’m here for it. The best stories told usually involve a nudey run or skinny dip after midnight.
Acrylic and pastel on board. NFS (just yet).

A vase for my dear friends at @urahara.store . Backing things that are made to outlive and outlast trends for a long time now. (A little cameo from a print of mine on their wall too). #melbourneartist #melbournefashion #pottery
Tickets for ATAA Episode 3 are now live (link in bio). In April we’ll be exploring how to commercialise your art. How to turn artistic expression into something that both sustains us and stays true to our creative core. Joining us are @secateur.me.baby , @_karabo_ and @yen.qin . Limited tickets available.
Since @fieldday.warrandyte arrived, they’ve been filling more than just our latte cups. They have become a place which welcomes community. Blessed to get to know @lewislotherington and @edamame.ali . If you’re in the area, it’s the door I’ll be telling you to find. #melbourneartist #pottery #warrandyte
I started doing these portraits. Not necessarily how I think someone should look. But how they make me feel. Using shading for highlights and highlights for shading. Almost like you see different versions of someone as you stare into it. Mike has always been like a push in the right direction for me. Spiritually a prince, on the mundane a great friend. His layers came easy, because he has many.
Paintings for the faint (and not-faint) hearted.

Sure this might be the most Steiner thing I’ve ever done. But seasons hit differently when you live amongst the trees. #Pottery #melbourneseasons #melbourneartist
