I’ve been working on a special edition publication in collaboration with @docu.magazine where different threads of my personal work are entwined. Blurring the boundaries between areas of my life, I’m making connections via my eye/lens and the general disorder found on both sides. Nothing deep, mostly playful images, context reconfigured. Production for the 20 page mag is next week, and I’ll have signed copies for sale soon. One year today (6/10/23) was the shoot for @nadineshah ’s Topless Mother video, the lead single from the album (of the year) Filthy Underneath. The lead photo, snatched between takes, became one of the defining images from the campaign, and a portrait I’m particularly proud of. Here it is, presented with some previously unseen BTS shots. . Sneak peek from the promo shoot for Chimehours’ debut LP ‘Underneath The Earth’, dropping October 24 on @coldspringrecords . We had to postpone the shoot several times, waiting for that perfect misty morning in the woods, until we couldn’t delay it any further and bit the bullet. @chimehours.band are Beck Goldsmith and Jon Dix, drawing inspiration from folk horror, ghost stories, and the supernatural, exploring themes of nature, folklore, time, community, and the uncanny on this amazing debut. For projects that need energy, not just coverage. Off-guard, on purpose.

A few more ‘one frame away’ sets. As ever, sometimes I prefer the before, or the after, or the chosen ones are still one frame away from a final pose. I basically work ‘through’ moments, rather than building up to a definitive one.

Different jobs. Same few seconds.

Pre-show, on-stage, post-show, merch stand POV, backstage…these are always busy nights, and I reckon damn close to the most fun you can have as a photographer. Love it @nadineshah

Shooting events at 28mm means you have to get right in amongst the action- none of that ‘standing at the back trying to look cool’ business.

The moment where the subject (in this case @mr.wez ) is still deciding how they want to look is where I’m at…

A lot of event photographers try to tidy things up a bit. I usually prefer the opposite.
