Recent caricature commission.. It was going to be used somehow in a novel one of the band members is writing - some sort of bonus material in back - but unfortunately plans changed, hence why one person is blurred out. But anyway, it may still be used in an even more edited form... And of course he has the original to display-
I drew this family of Lord of the Rings aficionados yesterday..
Recent transplants from California to Alabama, they said they have an annual tradition of getting a caricature every year, that they send out as their Christmas card (or in this case, the plan was to print it on a magnet.)
Usually this sort of thing is done from photos, but in this case I met them in person. So I worked direct in marker for speed and spontaneity - proof of that is how some of their heads ended up sort of merged and growing out of each other..!
Oh well, you can't get spontaneity like that if you do a pencil rough, I guess..
