INT. CAR - DAY (FLASHBACK)
I had just gassed up over on Camp Creek (yea in the ATL). I was finishing up a day of doing Uber when my agent called. She asked what I was doing, and then said “You might want to pull over”.
…okayyy…I said what’s up…she said “well I wanted to congratulate you on booking on your first TV role…you booked David Makes Man”
BACK TO PRESENT
Let me tell y’all something. I sat in my car and cried. Couldn’t do nothing but give God the praise because this show, wasn’t just any show. This show was created by @octarell_again
In 2016 this brilliant mind and artist, @octarell_again won an Oscar for the unforgettable film “Moonlight”. This film was my artistic-visual awakening. It moved me. I wanted to go tell meaningful stories. In-front of and behind the camera. (@mrjameslaxton your camera language inspired me to pick one up 🎨🎥)
So this show means a lot to me because I knew the storytellers behind the project care so deeply about the exploration of the human condition and what that looks from a visceral and personal perspective within the black community.
Thank you to @octarell_again@oprah@michaelbjordan for keeping authenticity at the forefront of storytelling and reminding us that stories are equipment for living.
You can watch seasons 1 and 2 of David Makes Man on @appletv

“Never get too far in front of the band that you can’t hear the music”
Some old school advice that was given to me when I was younger.
I’m still exploring the subtext of it.
Here’s to the journey of artistic expression. 🎨✌🏿

Excited to be partnering with @optimal_balance__ to advocate for mental health.
With everything going on, I’ve been focusing more on staying grounded. I recently started meditating and realized guided meditation works best for me. It helps me slow down and stay present.
The internal work isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. I’m committed to growing through it.
Here’s to the journey.
Thankful to every artist that contributed to this film 🎞️🫶🏿🎥
