The first annual Pros vs. Politicos Flag Football Game was a success. 🏈
Yesterday was about more than football. In a time that feels increasingly divided, it was a reminder that we are still one community.
That’s the Westbank I know and love. That’s the future I want to build towards.
Congrats to the Westbank Saints on winning the Youth Championship, and credit to us Politicos for only losing by one touchdown to a Pros team featuring three Super Bowl champions.
Still plenty of time to head to the polls!
Still plenty of time to head to the polls! Regardless of politics, we should all try to vote based on understanding rather than tribalism. Here’s a simple breakdown of today’s constitutional amendments so people actually understand what they’re voting on:
🗳️ AMENDMENT 1

• YES = Gives elected lawmakers more flexibility and accountability over certain high-level government positions.
• NO = Keeps the current system unchanged.
🗳️ AMENDMENT 2

• YES = Gives the St. George school system the same constitutional standing and tools as other parish school districts.
• NO = Keeps the current structure in place.
🗳️ AMENDMENT 3

• YES = Provides additional financial flexibility to support teachers and address retirement costs.
• NO = Keeps current restrictions on the use of those funds.

Fisher Alumni game was something special. It’s a reminder that some things never really leave you.
I can’t put into words the special feeling I get being on that diamond with all of my brothers. Maybe a step slower, maybe a little more sore the next morning, but the moment you step back out there, it all comes rushing back. The memories. The competition. The bond.
Incredibly grateful to Jimmy LeBlanc and everyone who puts this together, and to the Mayor and Council for opening the field back up to us. And to all the alumni who showed up. This program gave us a lot, and it means something to give back.
And it was nice finding out at 35 years old… I’ve still got some ball left in me.
These young men have been through more than most teams ever will.
They lost their school.
They lost their field.
They lost moments that can never be replaced.
But they never lost their fight.
They kept showing up.
They kept believing.
And they earned something special, home field advantage in the playoffs, on a field they can finally call their own.
Now, this is it. Their last time playing at home.
This is bigger than baseball. This symbolizes our entire community.
Our resilience.
Our pride.
And a brotherhood that refused to break.
They’ve carried the weight for years. Now it’s time we lift them.
Let’s pack the stands.
Let’s be loud from the first pitch to the final out.
Let’s give them a home-field advantage they’ll never forget.
Show up. Stand with them. Be part of it.
Let’s help them advance!
The Louisiana Wetlands Education Center is now officially open in Lafitte. Jefferson Parish Councilman Tim Kerner, Jr. (District 1) and other parish and state officials hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 20th.
The state-of-the-art museum is dedicated to teaching visitors about Louisiana’s unique coastal wetlands and the urgent challenges facing them. Located in the Barataria Basin, one of the most rapidly changing coastal environments in the world, the center is designed to serve as a hub for environmental education and community engagement.
Through exhibits, programming, and hands-on learning opportunities, the facility will highlight the ecological importance of wetlands, the impacts of coastal land loss, and the efforts underway to restore and protect Louisiana’s coast. By connecting visitors with the surrounding marshes and waterways, the center aims to inspire stewardship and a deeper understanding of the region’s complex coastal ecosystem. #JeffersonParishProud
The first phase of the new walking trail at Rosethorne is now complete. Phase 1 added a trail that runs around all of the fields, creating a great space for walking, jogging, and enjoying the park. Phase 2 will expand the trail further into one of the most beautiful spaces in the park (excited for everyone to see final result)
Some of the old fencing has already been permanently removed to open up and expand the park, and brush clearing has begun. New fencing will be installed to replace the old fencing, and work to fully redo the ballfields is expected to begin this summer. The new gym is also currently in the design phase.
We are also bringing new LED fishing lights to the Rosethorne boat launch. The Rosethorne boat launch parking lot is fully funded, and we are currently waiting for the levee work in the area to be completed so construction can move forward. Plus, we are looking to install a few pavilions and fish cleaning stations.
Handicap Wharf Update:
We’ve been working hard to move this project forward. A Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) will be executed at the next meeting to complete repairs to the courts and facilities. We’re also excited to share that we have secured an additional $200,000+ in funding for the Handicap Wharf.
With this addition, we now have four different funding sources (federal, state, and local) secured for the project, and we are ready to begin the design phase and finally get this long-awaited project moving.
We had the chance to attend Love Is in the Air in Gretna, and I was genuinely blown away.
Glynn Boyd put together an incredible, first-class production to honor his late wife, the wonderful Nancy Parker, while raising funds for her scholarship foundation. It was heartfelt, first class from start to finish. Glynn singing Lionel Richie, Rod Schouest performing, classical piano, a hilarious comedian, just talent throughout the night was outstanding.
This is one of those truly special Westbank events more people need to experience. I didn’t fully realize how meaningful and well-produced it would be.
I told Glynn he may want to start looking for a bigger venue next year, because I plan on making sure everyone knows just how nice it is.
