These images capture glimpses of what felt like one whole surreal moment - witnessing for hours the plumes of smoke looming overhead, caused by nearby wildfires. I could feel ash on my skin falling from the sky whilst emergency alerts on my phone were asking people from endangered areas to evacuate. I had recently seen the ghostly aftermath of vast devastation left behind by fires from past years - a haunting sight etched into my mind.
