The performance will center on classic jazz standards, showcasing the genre’s most authentic spirit and timeless appeal. An endorsed artist of Taiwanese saxophone brand TK Melody and graduate of the University of Auckland’s jazz program, Timothy is renowned for his deep grounding in the bebop tradition. For this special performance, he invites three graduates of Fountain Academy—pianist Isaac Lee, double bassist Evette Chiu, and drummer Jefferey—to share the stage. As a principal instructor at the academy, Timothy embodies jazz’s ethos of mentorship and continuity, highlighting both the tradition’s resilience and the rising talent of Hong Kong’s new generation of jazz artists. 「」東京尋求Immanuel Wilkins 嘅爵士洗禮|| 一手爵事 二三十年代, 爵士樂走出草根階層紅遍全美國, 社會需要可以畀上流有錢佬聽音樂嘅地方, Harlem區就出現左風靡一時嘅高級爵士夜店 —Cotton Club。好多為人熟悉嘅早期爵士明星如Fat Waller, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway等都係表演席嘅常客。雖然去到四十年代就執左笠, 但係Cotton Club呢個名已經喺爵士畀成為一個經典, 好多jazz club都用番呢個名希望可以重振當年風光, 其中包括2005年東京丸之內開幕嘅Cotton Club Tokyo。 今次我地就一行人(Timothy, Hum, Brian, Dean, LikShun)黎咗朝聖連續聽左兩晚, 聽嘅係而家美國最頂尖同引令潮流嘅年輕色士風手Imannuel Wilkins。2020年, 得23歲嘅Immanuel 已經同Blue Note Record 出左佢嘅Debut album <<Omega>>, 呢次Cotton Club嘅表演佢就帶番佢嘅原班人馬玩新碟<<Blues Blood>>嘅歌。黎到現代最前線嘅爵士樂, 好多大神都各自有自己獨特嘅聲音, 有時已經好難再用cool jazz, funk, hardbop 呢D字眼去概括。除左樂手每個人嘅技巧都已經係去到神仙嘅級別之外, 聽佢地嘅音樂仲有一種好spiritual, 有如後期John Coltrane嘅「真儀式感」, Immanuel嘅作品都時常會有宗教相關嘅主題。 除左兩晚嘅Immanuel, 我地仲去左一間喺柏嘅jazz bar —Nardis , 聽左而家喺東京爵士圈老是常出現嘅年青鼓手中村海斗。東京啲jazz bar 係多到傻左，每晚都有出色嘅表演同jam session。 [1-2] Immanuel Wilkins Cotton Club Tokyo 朝聖團 [3] 呢班友有啲料到 [4-5]Cotton Club Tokyo嘅高級環境, 想講盆羅漢松(目測至少十萬)佢係咁sell, 點知上去個網係只租不賣LOL [6-7]Nardis聽中村海斗 @kaito_nkmr_d [8]480yen就買到Lester Young嘅二手黑膠 [9] 張珈朗的捧球天分不錯
