Recap of 3 intense days at the international symposium “Getting to Know Each Other – Hip-Hop Dances” 🎤🕺
From December 4th to 6th, I had the opportunity to participate in the international symposium “Getting to Know Each Other: Hip-Hop Dances, Fields of Research and Invention,” held at the CND in La Villette.
Three intense, inspiring, and incredibly enriching days.
The event brought together speakers from all over the world: France, China, Japan, Spain, Quebec, the United States… A truly refreshing diversity.
Superb projects were presented: archives, books, applications, web platforms, live performances, screenings, roundtables… A comprehensive and vibrant vision of hip-hop.
I had the honor of speaking as an archivist, and what a pleasant surprise: one of the speakers used one of my archives to illustrate their presentation.
It was an incredible experience, and the positive feedback on my work throughout the three days deeply touched me.
I also reconnected with friends from the scene, made new acquaintances, and shared valuable insights.
The days were intense, packed with essential information and reflections for the future of the movement, but also filled with hope and collective energy.
I'm leaving with ideas, connections, motivation, and the conviction that hip-hop dance continues to evolve, learn, and be passed on.
I'm eager to see what all this will lead to next.
A huge thank you to the CND and everyone who attended. 🙏🔥
