Very late post…but this was an installation I created this summer at @garagenoord for @sss_suburbia . One last thank you to @sere.sssssso for inviting me to be part of this event. It was such a different environment and community from the spaces I usually build work for (but very cool!) I loved how my aesthetic both blended in and went a bit offbeat from the night’s experimental style. It was also great to get to know a totally new audience! I really loved the night and working for a week at garage noord! ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️

Installation at @kabulagogo for @dance.of.fights I was asked to create a work responding to the theme of exploring care. I want to begin by acknowledging my position. I have never experienced war, and this work does not attempt to represent it. Instead, it grows out of listening…to stories and emotions shared by others and translating what I could hear into a visual language, knowing that this translation will always remain incomplete. The work reflects on the difficulty of sustaining care in situations shaped by ongoing destruction and rebuilding. Care is not presented as something heroic or resolved, but as fragile, vulnerable, and repeatedly interrupted. Growth may appear, but it remains under constant threat of disappearing again. This is expressed through a cloud-like form hanging above people’s heads, suggesting a continuous sense of pressure rather than a single moment of violence. The tentacle-like structures refer to internal wounds that require attention. As growth emerges and trees blossom, awareness of these wounds grows as well, sometimes forming protective layers that also carry traces of trauma. Some of these forms appear wounded and bleed bright, pink fruits. For me, they point to the complicated ways in which people continue to care, give, and create, even under extreme conditions. The work is referring to the ongoing process of care: a cycle of effort, collapse, and beginning again. The fragility of the balloons mirrors the fragility of care itself and of life A shout out to @da.mir.b , @juul55 and the others that helped me in the proces.

I’ve been keeping it a bit quiet lately, focusing more on research… but I still have some really nice projects from this summer to share. ✨ In July I created an installation for the Freqyrhythm Pride party at Sissi’s. A big thanks to @dj_bertie @freqyrhythm and @sissis.amsterdam for inviting me to shape the visual ambience for a queer coded special night. I felt very welcome to share my world. We can always use more spaces like this. Places that celebrate our differences. Where artists who work through different senses are invited to share their stories, and where those stories collide into small worlds of experiment, creativity, and connection. 💖

TimnotSimon is a queer visual artist based in Amsterdam, working with large-scale balloon installations that transform space, emotion, and perception. His soft sculptures, installations, and performances emerge from a queer perspective: bold, tender, and unapologetically expressive. Rooted in queer club culture, his work often inhabits nightlife spaces where inflated forms come alive through light, sound, and movement. These environments become temporary sanctuaries: places of fluid identity, transformation, and liberation. Tim uses latex balloons for their immediacy and impermanence. Fragile and defiant, his creations evoke flora, fauna, sex, the body and creatures that reflect the ever-shifting, uncontainable nature of queer existence. Central to his practice is a deep commitment to the queer community. Through visual art, performance, and collaborations like the party collective BUTTS, Timnotsimon creates safe spaces for expression, joy, release, and collective reimagining. In a world shaped by control, his art embraces softness, chaos, and queerness as vital, radical forces. For the Freqy Rhythm takeover at @sissis.amsterdam , Tim will create a sculptural installation that unfolds above the dancefloor like a queer organism: a hybrid human alien body that feels both familiar and strange. Its forms will recall tentacles, roots, and veins, evoking the raw vitality of nature while also suggesting futuristic, otherworldly structures. The main club room will be transformed into a temporary universe; a safe haven where fluidity, strangeness, and radical beauty are not only celebrated, but collectively embodied. The sculpture will honor how queer expression can emerge, transform, and fade, returning again and again to claim space with fierce, organic power. We can’t wait to unveil TimnotSimon’s latest work on Friday night! Have you got your tickets? Pre-sale link in bio xx

I’m incredibly proud of the journey we took with BUTTS @buttsarecamp . Together, we built something special: a beautiful queer world that felt uniquely ours. I miss it deeply, every day. 🌈This Saturday is the final BUTTS edition at @komoost and though I’ve stepped away, I can’t wait to see how amazing the group is without me. This edition will be even more iconic, joining forces with the legendary Spielraum @spielraum_amsterdam . If you go to just one party this summer, let it be this one. You won’t regret it. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🟨🟣🟨

Wow!🤩 What a special experience these five weeks of working in Muscat, Oman at the Royal Opera House. I’m so proud of the massive balloon forest decor that @sannedanz and I originally created in 2023 for the opera Robin Hood at @fondazioneteatropetruzzelli in Bari. To have the chance to bring it to life once again—this time in Oman—and to see the school children of Muscat (and adults) enjoying the performance was so great. @sannedanz and @marcelsijm , i am so grateful for you bringing me into this project three years ago. Thank you for seeing the potential in my work, believing in how far I could take it, and trusting my abilities. Working alongside such experienced, professional and inspiring artists has been a huge learning experience—one that continues to shape and elevate my practice. Oman has been wonderful. The people are so kind, the country is beautiful, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with and for the Royal Opera House. And of course, for the whole Petruzzelli crew: Avrai sempre un posto nel mio cuore! 💗💖

OOST: Heavy heart, full of love and pride: last edition was @timnotsimon ’s final time with BUTTS. After six years of putting soul, spirit, creativity and countless balloons into it, it’s time to turn the page. All of the magical decors might have stood out to you first, but Tim’s addition to BUTTS has entailed everything from conceptualization to performance curation, close communication with artists, connecting with the community, performing themselves and content creation. Tim: from the first knot to the last detail–your tireless work has made this beautiful queer party to what it is today. Thank you for everything, and then some. We’re sending you infinite love for all of the wonderful things coming your way ❤️ For BUTTS that means a new twist on visual identity and decor; more on that later. For now, enjoy all Tim’s work made for Butts in chronological order🌈
