The #RoadlessAreaConservationRule turns 25 today. It's old enough to rent a car!
The #RoadlessRule protects 58.5 million acres of national forest lands from clear-cutting and roadbuilding, providing the best habitat for fish and wildlife.
Now, the Trump administration is trying to repeal this popular and effective rule, cutting protections for 45 million acres nationwide - including 4 million acres in #Utah.
Sometime this spring, you'll have another chance to voice your opposition to this effort to hand over our #roadless forests to logging and mining companies.
85% of people polled recently support the rule, and your voice will be essential in keeping protections in place for our irreplaceable #publiclands.
These photos show just a few of the roadless areas at risk in Utah.
Heartfelt thanks to Nate Rydman for flying me to gather aerial photography of these incredible places!
RIP Bobby!
Nine years ago tonight, we were celebrating my wife's parents' 50th anniversary and the new designation of Bears Ears National Monument! Happy anniversary to Jack and Kathy, and happy anniversary to Bears Ears!
Oh, sweet Durango! Again, thousands upon thousands came out for another NO Kings rally in our little rural town - joining over 7 million!? I was nervous about going, but I'm so glad we did - especially with my cute frog date! ♥️
Walk with us. Join me at the Community Center in White Mesa, Utah this Saturday, Oct. 4 at 11AM. Support the White Mesa Concerned Community and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe’s spiritual walk to protect the community’s health, water, air, land, culture, and sacred sites from the nearby Energy Fuels uranium mill. See you there! /
Friends! First they tried to sell off our public lands in the budget bill. They failed, and now they're coming for our national forests.
A policy called the #RoadlessRule has worked for almost a quarter century to protect tens of millions of acres of public forests from new road building and commercial logging, including 4 million acres in Utah.
Now, the Trump administration wants to get rid of this prudent and effective conservation measure, and your first opportunity to oppose this policy to privatize our public resources closes Friday.
We have more than enough roads - we need to protect these roadless areas for the clean water they provide, the last remaining old growth forests they harbor, and the wildlife habitat, cultural places, and recreation opportunities they safeguard.

Only two days left to stand up for the Roadless Rule. 🚨 Since 2001 it’s protected 25,121 miles of hiking trails, 10,000+ miles of bike routes, 8,659 climbing routes, 768 miles of whitewater, and 58 million acres of national forests—keeping water clean and forests wild. 🌲 Now the USDA wants to dismantle it.
