To Walk the Way is a quietly moving meditation on finding meaning through the simple act of walking.
After a lifetime of wandering — from 1950s Kenya to Dublin’s streets and the pilgrim paths of Wicklow and southern France — Mike Timms sets out, newly retired, on his first Camino, travelling on foot from near Carcassonne to Santiago de Compostela. Along the way, he learns to trust the road and the strangers he meets, discovering that fatigue, wrong turns, and chance encounters can become unexpected gifts.
Written with calm assurance, this reflective journey through an ancient landscape invites us to find our own way — one step at a time.
To Walk the Way is available now.

PUBLISHING MARCH 6TH.
Mike Timms has always been a wanderer – from the bundu (‘back of beyond’) of 1950s Kenya to the streets of Dublin in his college years, and later the pilgrim paths of Wicklow and southern France as he neared the end of his working life. He has never felt lost or alone, sustained by a faith in moving forward one step at a time, and by the peace – and occasional reverence – found in quiet places.
On retirement, he set out on his first Camino, walking from just north of Carcassonne towards Santiago de Compostela. He travelled as a true pilgrim, scallop shell at his neck, passport in his pocket and no certainty of a bed at day’s end. As he fell in and out of step with fellow walkers, he learned to trust the road and to welcome injury, fatigue, detours and the kindness of strangers as blessings in disguise.
With assured, attentive prose, Mike Timms leads us through an ancient landscape, alive to the histories, traditions and beliefs it carries. To Walk the Way is a gently transporting account of joining that long continuum, and finding his own place within it.

Mike Timms has always been a wanderer, from the bundu of 1950s Kenya to the streets of Dublin and the pilgrim paths of Wicklow and southern France. Guided by a steady faith in putting one foot in front of the other, he has long found peace — and at times reverence — in walking alone.
On retiring, he set out on his first Camino, travelling on foot from near Carcassonne towards Santiago de Compostela. Walking as a true pilgrim, he learned to trust both fellow travellers and the road itself, discovering that fatigue, detour and the kindness of strangers can be blessings in disguise.
Written with calm assurance, To Walk the Way is a mindful and gently transporting journey through an ancient landscape, and an account of finding meaning by walking it in one’s own way.
TO WALK THE WAY lands March 6th, you can pre-order via newisland.ie.

As Dean Jonathan Swift in "Swiftly Into Christmas". Great to perform to a live audience again though strange to be in the same pulpit he used 300 years ago.
