Tim Matakis (@timmatiakis ) artistic director of KINISI (@kinisi_cph ), has been working on Methoding - an investigation into how existing works can be revisited to extract and clarify the methods that shaped them. This Friday’s showing will be both a sharing and an opening. Tim will briefly introduce his process with Methoding and share the starting point of a new project that attempts to live-negotiate some of these materials. The aim is to explore what it means for something to be truly live, and how already existing, vibrating materials can continue to unfold, shift, and reveal new potentials rather than being closed or resolved. // Come for the OPEN STUDIO SHOWING tomorrow from 16.00-17.00 and get a live glimpse into the artistic process — no sign-up or tickets needed. Just swing by Nygårdsvej 5A 🤍

What new truths might emerge?” This intimate collaboration invites you into a shifting, dreamlike world where past and present are continuously reassembled. Step closer and explore the first flickers of self-awareness, unraveling the threads that bind identity and memory in ways you’ve never experienced before. Never the Same Selves imagines remembering as a resonant space, fantasizing about an alternative relationship between memory and identity. The work poses the question: “If our memories exist here and now, can we, for a moment, release the autobiographical life story they have created for us? What then appears?” Tim Matiakis (choreographer / dancer) and Katrine Grarup Elbo (composer / musician) delve into the experience of the first time we remember ourselves as subjects in a world, to unfold artistic and performative potentials of remembrance, studying the nuances of a lived memory. Never the Same Selves invites you to intimately examine the connections between memory, identity, and time in an episodic world of ever-shifting character — where things are remembered, reimagined, and reassembled. Premiere January 25 2025 at @teaterfaar302 in Copenhagen ➰ Never the Same Selves is supported by Augustinus Foundation, William Demant Foundation, Beckett Foundation, Knud Højgaards Foundation, Louis-Hansens Foundation, Copenhagen Commune and with support from Koda Culture. This week i have been teaching at Scenekunstskolen in Holstebro, both the 1st and 2nd year students in TOOLBOX, the choreographic method I developed in 2023. It has been a true privilege to engage with such dedicated, articulated (both body and mind) able, reflective, insightful, daring, coolabrotative and engaging students. Seeing TOOLBOX unfold in their bodies and in their perception has been such a wonderful experience. True moments of dance magic happened in amongst the explorations. Thank you to all the students for your investment, great questions, reflections and logic making bodies and to Tiziana Fracchiolla for inviting me and for the great conversations. Also thank you to Toke Broni Strandby and Tina Albertsen for your great company and help. And keep up the great work - wonderful dance artists in the making!!! TOOLBOX was created through the support of Bikubenfonden, Forsøgsstationen, consultans Karen Vedel and Rachel Tess, and dancers/choreographers Anna Pehrsson and Brittanie Brown. More about TOOLBOX - link in bio.

Tomorrow (12th) and on the 17th of September are the two last possibilities to experience, Kun stemmen bliver tilbage, by the art collective Motherboard, as part of the Golden Days Festival. Kun stemmen bliver tilbage is the second opera in a trilogy by the interdisciplinary art collective Motherboard, consisting of composer Signe Lykke, soprano and performer Katinka Fogh Vinderlev, choreographer Tim Matiakis and filmmakers Cille Hannibal and Frigge Fri. Motherboard wishes to rethink how opera is created and showcased, working with co-creation across the artistic disciplines, creating site specific works. Motherboard does not work with narratives, but explores sensory abstractions of existence, describing relatable aspects such as: loneliness, anger, pleasure, powerlessness and affection. The title and primary text of the work are fragments of Iranian Forugh Farrokhzad’s poems and come from the anthology: Kun stemmen bliver tilbage, which contains an uncensored translation of Forugh’s most important works translated into Danish by Shadi Angelina Bazeghi and published via. Gyldendal in 2013. In addition, Motherboard’s own texts are used, which branch out into a registering, documentary language. Kun stemmen bliver tilbage, is performed and created with live performer & soprano Katinka Fogh Vindelev, live performer & contratenor Morten Grove Frandsen, live performer & accordionist Andreas Borregaard, live performer & dancer Brittanie Brown and live performer & dancer Max Wallmeier. The work premiered at BLOOM Festival in Frederiksberg in May 2024, followed by a tour to the festivals, Heartland Festival, Rued Langgaard Festival, KUNSTEN/Aalborg Opera Festival. Golden Days is the last stop for this work. Thank you to Trevor Davies and Teaterøen for supporting this work with space in the creative process.
