Sydney Sun is our stockroom highlight of the week! This joyous sold-out print is currently available in the Olsen Annexe stockroom. During the 1960s, Olsen created a number of ambitious ceiling paintings for private patrons, including “You Beaut Country”, “Darlinghurst Cats”, and “Five Bells”. One of the most celebrated of these works was the three-panel “Sydney Sun” (1965), which Olsen described as an “all-at-once world; a totality of experience.” Through swirling lines, energetic forms, and vibrant colour, the painting captures the overwhelming heat, light, and movement of Sydney and reflects Olsen’s deeply emotional response to Australia. For the full range of John Olsen Limited Prints follow the link in our bio or call us on 9327 3922 and our team are happy to assist with recommendations and framing. Artwork details: John Olsen Sydney Sun, 1965 Edition 130 of 250 limited edition fine art reproduction 82 x 108 cm #Olse-4662 $5,000

Evie Adasal’s exhibition “Dopamine” continues at Olsen Gallery this week, current until 23 May. @evie.adasal @timjolsen @fatografi_insta As Evie writes: “Dopamine is a neurotransmitter involved in motivation and reward prediction, often associated with anticipation rather than reward itself. It drives the impulse to seek, to return, and to pursue something not yet realised. In my practice, this sense of anticipation unfolds through returning to the gardens and through the process of painting itself. I am searching for a particular moment of resolution a ‘hit’ where colour, structure and rhythm lock into place. That moment is never fixed, only approached, and it is this ongoing pursuit that the work holds”.
For all enquiries contact us at [email protected] or call the gallery on 9327 3922. To view full exhibition online follow the link in our bio.
