This is the coda of Chopin's Third Scherzo, a diabolically triumphant ending to a piece that meanders between fire and the divine. Filmed at the Quarterfinals of the National Chopin Competition back in January.

Though it’s been out for over a week already, I realized I never made a permanent post. Here goes! After two years, I’m excited to share my first album, “Dualities.”
This CD features music that has been a source of immense joy, artistic growth, and powerful means of expression. The album features works by Miriama Young, Gabriela Ortiz, Rodney Rogers, Tyson Ghoslton Davis, and Chris DeBalsio.
So grateful to have collaborated with dear friends Timothy Jones and Julian Hernandez, as well as Sam Allison as my recording engineer, Erdem Helvacioglu for mixing/mastering, James Tabata’s keen ear as producer, and Giuseppe Gallo-Balma for the beautiful artwork.

Prokofiev's 7th sonata is fierce and uncompromising - one of his most harsh and dissonant works. The third movement here is strikingly visceral and direct in its intent. This middle section is one of my favorite parts, as it is the only moment in this movement where there are markings for a (sarcastically) Romantic form of expression...then it's back to the bombastic.

This clip is from a recent performance of Chopin's B minor Sonata. The ending of the first movement is one of my favorite spots, a harmonic reprieve from the instability that encompasses most of the movement.
