The Michele Brangwen Dance & Music Ensemble creates art on an incredibly high level, as evidenced by the joy in the audience response to performances this year in the Duffy at the Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn, The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook, NY, and the MATCH in Houston, and by the great review in the December issue of the New York City Jazz Record. When you join us as a donor, you are supporting the creation of new work of this caliber and the artists who make it come alive. And you are sustaining us so that we can bring you another year of live performance. Please consider joining us.

When I began collaborating with Michele Brangwen on a work that would tribute the great Don Cherry, we talked about Cherry's love (and ours) for the sound of Charlie Haden's bass. I wrote this unaccompanied bass solo section and Michele heard it as a very intimate dance and music Mandala - 5 dancers and 4 musicians make the Mandala which revolves in performance, fueled by sound of the bass. You can hear a little of it here in rehearsal, played beautifully by Thorbjørn Stefansson and danced by Adam Castaneda, Cristian Laverde Koenig, Lindsey McGill, Meredith Fages, Michele Brangwen, with musicians Evan Hyde, Michael Eaton, Angela Wang and me...this is what Michele does so well: blur the boundaries of the disciplines in the subtle and emotional ways. Come and see the entire work on Friday November 7 at 8 p.m. at the Mark Morris Dance Center, Brooklyn, NY. Tickets: https://michele-brangwen-dance-ensemble.square.site

The program will also include music by Don Cherry. Click here for tickets: https://michele-brangwen-dance-ensemble.square.site/
