Staying at my grandparents in Tenterfield is always a treat for a bird lover like me šŸ’šTheir backyard is like a magnet for all kinds of birds. In the few days we were there we saw satin bowerbirds, fairywrens, king parrots, lorikeets, crimson and eastern rosellas, and so many more. But this time, we had a first when this little guy, a red-winged parrot came to visit! 🦜 It’s such a joy to sit at the kitchen table and watch the birds all morning. after missing so many shots I decided to leave my camera out on the table, ready for whatever came along šŸ˜… There’s just something so magical about seeing them up close. Here in Australia we are so privileged to have such a wide variety of colourful, beautiful parrots. Moments like this never fail to make me pause and appreciate the incredible wildlife around us šŸ’š ~ by Maddie Walcher . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick Tip - Keep your camera ready at home — some of the best wildlife shots happen right outside your door! . #parrot #birdphotographer #photographylessons #photographytip Red winged parrot • Parrots of Instagram • Parrot photography • Australian native birds • Wildlife photography • Bird photography • Photography Lessons • Photographer

Some places are beautiful in a way that makes you slightly uneasy. HĆ”lsanefshellir Cave sits along Iceland’s black sand coast, shaped by basalt columns and the relentless force of the Atlantic. I’m not even sure if it’s still accessible today after recent storms reportedly washed much of the beach away. When we visited last year, the tide was already coming in. I had heard stories about sneaker waves here 🌊 those sudden, powerful surges that arrive without warning. Beautiful place or not, this didn’t feel like somewhere to get complacent. You definitely wouldn’t want to be trapped in this cave when one hit 😬 So there was this strange balance between awe and caution. Watching the waves. Waiting for the water to pull back before making a quick exit across the beach. Still… moments like this stay with you. One small person beneath towering basalt, the sound of waves echoing through the cave, and that feeling of standing somewhere both breathtaking and just a little wild. ~ Photo by Ron Walker . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick tip: When photographing dramatic locations, look for scale. A person in the frame can completely transform an image — turning a beautiful scene into a story about size, mood, and human experience. . #photographytip #photographylessons #icelandphotography #visiticeland

Sometimes photography is about chasing conditions that never quite arrive. After a bit of overnight rain and cooler mornings lately, I thought there was a decent chance of some autumn fog rolling through the Glasshouse Mountains. The dew point and temperature were close enough to make me hopeful anyway. So despite waking up later than planned (not ideal šŸ˜…), I headed off before sunrise and made the climb with time to spare—having only slipped over once on the wet rocks along the way. No sea of fog in the end. Just a little mist drifting through the valleys. But honestly, I didn’t mind. It was incredibly peaceful having the summit to myself while the first light slowly worked its way through the heavy cloud. Even on an overcast morning, the sun still found a way to peek through for a few brief moments. Sometimes that softer, moodier light suits the landscape better anyway. This is one of the smaller Glasshouse Mountains, but the views from the top are spectacular—360° in every direction—and only about half an hour from home. Standing up there reminded me I should do this more often. Funny how the mornings that almost don’t happen often turn out to be worth remembering. ~ Photo by Ron Walker . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick tip: Don’t only chase perfect conditions. Some of the most atmospheric landscape photos happen when the weather almost does what you hoped. . . #NDISsupportworker #ndisarttherapy #photographyteacher #photographylessons

Autumn is always my favourite time of year to visit Tenterfield šŸ’›šŸ§” The cooler temperatures and the incredible of colours make visiting my grandparents extra special. Unlike back home, here the trees put on a full show with fiery oranges, deep reds, and rich purples. You can literally see the leaves changing day by day šŸ‚šŸ The day we arrived, we spent time driving around looking for the best trees. This scene immediately caught my eye so we had to turn around and capture it. First I saw this tree with such bright colours but then I noticed the sheep were making their way down the side of the train tracks. By the time we pulled over and got my camera out most of the sheep were gone but this last little straggler was taking his sweet time šŸ‘ šŸ˜…The light was just right, making the autumn colours shine brilliantly and giving the whole scene a warm glow ā˜€ļø ~ by Maddie Walcher . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick Tip - Early morning or late afternoon light will make the colours pop and add warmth to your scene. . #tenterfield #visittenterfield #photolessons #photographylessons

The hike to Hengifoss, Iceland, felt almost monochromatic at first — cold rock, snow, shadow, and that huge cliff face swallowing the light. But as the sun slowly swung around, the whole scene changed ā˜€ļø Suddenly the waterfall lit up and those red strata running through the cliffs began to glow ā£ļø That’s what makes Hengifoss so distinctive. Not just the height of the falls, but the layers of iron-rich red bands cutting across the basalt like lines painted through the mountain itself. This was one of those scenes where the challenge wasn’t finding beauty. It was deciding which part to showcase. The waterfall draws you in, but the cliffs are what give the place its character. ~ Photo by Ron Walker . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick tip: When editing landscapes, ask yourself: What makes this location unique? Emphasise that first.

We marvelled at the 'big ticket' waterfalls šŸ’¦ in Iceland like Skógafoss and Goưafoss, but there were heaps of others that were just off the main road that had their own individual charm. Stjórnarfoss doesn’t shout for attention—it draws you in. At first glance it’s the waterfall, of course. But stay a moment longer and the scene starts to unfold… the quiet bend of the river in the foreground, the subtle textures in the rock, the way the water slows, gathers, then spills again. It’s less about drama and more about rhythm. That’s what struck me here. Not just the fall—but the flow leading to it. I dropped low to bring the river into the foreground, letting it act like an invitation into the frame. The waterfall becomes the destination—but the journey is what holds you there. Nothing forced. Just letting the scene reveal itself. ~ Photo by Ron Walker . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick tip: Use foreground flow or leading elements to build a path into your subject. That’s what turns a snapshot into an experience. . #NDISsupportworker #ndisarttherapy #photographyteacher #photographylessons

Drangarnir was the view that made me fall in love with the Faroe Islands all those years ago šŸ’™ Ron and I first saw pictures online of a place in the middle of nowhere with some of the most insane landscapes we had ever seen. We had never heard of the Faroe Islands before but we just knew we had to go there one day! Fast forward a few years and that dream became a reality šŸ˜ The Faroe Islands exceeded all my expectations! It was everything I had hoped for and more, so much so that I came back two years later. When you visit Drangarnir there are many angles to see it from but this view from sea level is my absolute favourite. It takes some effort to get there, especially knowing you’ll have to climb those steep Faroese hills again afterward šŸ˜… And timing is key because the North Atlantic sea is no joke. We got our shots just in time before the waves started closing in. As if that wasn’t magical enough, we were also joined by a local seal 🦭 Our guide told us that if we whistled, the seals would pop their heads up to say hello. And sure enough, minutes later a curious seal appeared to greet us. ~ by Maddie Walcher . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick Tip - Plan your shots in advance according to the tides to get the most out of a location. #photographylessons #photographytip #drangarnir #faroeislands Drangarnir • Tindhólmur • Vagar • Faroe Islands • Faroese coastline • dramatic cliffs • North Atlantic • remote landscapes • Landscape photography • coastal cliffs • moody landscapes • travel photography • nature photography • light rays

Maddie had seen this view online, but we only realised when we got there that access was restricted by fencing. So this was it—one viewpoint. Luckily, it was a good one šŸ˜€Ā  Back in the studio, it became all about post-processing decisions šŸ–±ļø That starts with a simple question šŸ¤” what is this photo actually about—the mountain or the waterfall?Ā  For me, it was the waterfall. From there everything followed: šŸ‘‰ Cropped the bottom to remove dead space and get straight into the scene šŸ‘‰ Pulled the mountain back slightly so it supported instead of dominated šŸ‘‰ Brightened the waterfall so it became the natural entry point šŸ‘‰ Shaped the light across the slope to keep depth without adding distraction Nothing extreme—just simplifying until the image reads clearly. That’s a big part of what we focus on in our sessions—learning to prioritise what matters in a frame, rather than just taking a snapshot. ~ Photo by Ron WalkerĀ  .Ā  #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick tip: If a photo feels messy, it’s usually a hierarchy problem. Decide what matters most—then edit everything else to support it. . #NDISsupportworker #ndisarttherapy #photographyteacher #photographylessons

Just a few minutes off the bitumen at Mount Mee, Somerset Lookout opens to one of the best sunset views in our region šŸŒ„ Accessible by high-clearance 4WD šŸš™ it feels like a real adventure without needing a long or difficult walk. This is one of the locations we love sharing with our NDIS photography clients. It offers more than a beautiful view — it’s a chance to get outdoors, build confidence, learn camera skills, enjoy nature, and experience the excitement of reaching places many people never see. As the sun drops behind the ranges, the landscape changes minute by minute. Golden light, layered hills, shifting clouds, and endless opportunities to create memorable photos. Whether using a camera or a phone, we guide each session at your pace in a relaxed one-to-one environment. Sometimes growth happens when we try something new, go somewhere different, and see what we are capable of. Interested in joining us on a future photo adventure? ~ Photo by Ron Walker . #timeimprints šŸ“· Quick tip: Sunset sessions are perfect for learning photography because the light changes quickly and teaches you how to notice colour, exposure, and composition in real time. . #NDISsupportworker #ndisarttherapy #photographyteacher #photographylessons
