I'm grateful to have a chapter in this book, it's one of my favorite pieces of writing, it's memoir based and ties in hip-hop, basketball, and the violence of school. carla weaves in other amazing writers, artists, and poets who tell their stories and brings the message that "solidarity begins at home." Interacting with this book has made me reflect more on youth autonomy and adult supremacy. This book is so important and is monumental because it puts the focus on childism and zooms in on hierarchy past the bullies, the bosses, and deans and continues to zoom in on where most violence begins, in the places we grew up and the places we live.
