So that’s exactly what we did. But it was inspiring to spend time in Congress yesterday with elected officials who are refusing to be hushed and pushing towards progress in the Sustainable Energy + Environment Coalition.

International Women’s Day began as a global call for women’s rights, representation, and equality. Though that work continues, it is also a moment to recognize the countless ways women shape our world: from science and policy to community leadership and environmental stewardship.
Around the world, research shows women often express greater concern for the climate crisis and support environmental solutions at higher rates. Yet women remain underrepresented in many of the spaces where environmental decisions are made.
Recognizing this gap isn’t about suggesting women are inherently better stewards of the planet. It’s about understanding that when half the world’s perspectives are missing, our ability to solve complex challenges like climate change is weakened.

My Lola was a seamstress in the Philippines who would turn leftover fabric scraps into beautiful clothes. She lived sustainability before it became a movement. Now, her homeland is drowning and it breaks my heart that her country is experiencing firsthand the realities of climate change.
