Had the opportunity to film this short at Balmoral with the King recently, as a tribute to Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.

Thank you Sir David Attenborough for so many incredible years. 100 today: Happy birthday, David! I was fortunate to work with David on two 3D IMAX feature films: Flying Monsters (2010) and David Attenborough’s Natural History Museum Alive (2014). Both films won BAFTA’s. Everything David touched turned to gold. On set he was always utterly professional and engaging, whilst remaining somewhat enigmatic and often deep in thought. He could sometimes be found on the edge of set, patiently waiting for the crew to set up, rehearsing his lines and apologising to us if he ever made a mistake while rolling. A lasting impression he left on me was the inquisitiveness he showed, not just toward animals but to the people around him. He was fascinated by the 3D camera technology and techniques we were using and was full of questions. I suppose it’s this curiosity along with his fierce intellect and warmth that have made him such a vital figure in the natural sciences and an icon for so many. What a privilege to have spent time with you. #sirdavidattenborough

Digging into the past I look at this short experimental film I made in the early 2000’s - Who Are You? A fleeting self portraiture shimmering in the grain of memory - a performance caught between who I was and who I imagine I was in the future. Photographed on Super 8mm film and then hand manipulated in a telecine to create fragments, a ghosting of self. A sound track created from a recording I made of my 6 year old daughter at the time on the piano, a lullayby for forgotten selves and a sample from a record – How To Train Your Bird to Talk whispers of the strange ways we condition ourselves. In this flicker, I meet the ghost of me. #experimentalfilm #super8

Finding Harmony: A Kings Vision some screen grabs and behind the scene images. I last worked with Director @nicolasrbrown on a feature with the Pope so when he called me up on this one I knew it would be it super high profile. Went with the Arri Signature zooms and V-Impression back filters. A mix of Ronin R2 and hand held . We wanted a very intimate style and small crew.

No 1 in US and UK 🔥🔥🔥 Shout out to @raissabotterman and the production team! I know it sounds like such a cliché, but I really do mean this with sincerity — making this series was pure joy as a DP. There was a real creative collaboration and such a strong team spirit on set. Props to the camera team - I was lucky to have my trusted legend of a 1st AC, @bigeye_rentals , and my brilliant 2nd AC @jacklawrenc.e — who I’d worked with earlier in the year on the Netflix Springer series in Chicago. @rawtvltd managed to get him on board again, and it made all the difference. The DIT was Justin who fitted into our groove so smoothly. We also had an incredible crew out of Philly — gaffers, sparks, grips, PA’s, drivers — all hard-working, talented, and with that perfectly dry wit that keeps you sane on long days. We had certain scenes that were shot in Cape Town, so shout out Trilogy and all the S.A crew and cast - especially my trusted 2nd AC @kennywongsin who helped out on yet again another production! 🙏 To see the series land at No. 1 in both the US and UK have to give a massive thanks to everyone who made it enjoyable to work on.
