“As always, it makes me feel really alive. Just like this whole trip has. Alive to the promise of rewilding, to the beauty and fragility of the natural world, to the need to plunge into the frigid ocean once in a while and do the hard things to help protect it.”

PSA for parents starting summer camp planning this year: you don’t have to pick the option down the road. Many hotels offer full-day immersive care so you can combine travel with remote work. Not necessarily cheap but what about parenting is… Story up on Beeb homepage today.
This hot tub slides into the ‘TK hot tubs with amazing views’ list at number 3. Zion NP in the winter was as spectacular as suspected - but Snow Canyon State Park and the scenery around St George were unexpected surprises. Kona meets Sedona as someone put it. The city is just two hours from Vegas via the dramatic Virgin River Valley. Black Desert Resort is a great place to stay for golfers and families alike.
Earlier this year I had a trip planned to Cairns and the Daintree Rainforest but a monsoon blew me off course. I ended up at Lady Elliot Island on the very southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef and spent a few days with fewer crowds, snorkeling with manta rays and learning about the resort’s pioneering sustainability efforts. #serendipty #muchlatergram
Just back from a wonderful few days exploring Lake Tahoe. Family fun > phones (hence the paucity of good pics). Thanks to @visitlaketahoe_official@travelnorthtahoenevada and @visitcalifornia for the itinerary. For a few nights we stayed in one of those cabins in the final pic.
@mammothmountain got 6 feet of snow last week - just in time for Thanksgiving - but it was surprisingly quiet on the slopes on the day itself. More solitude was easy to find on the snowshoe trails @tamaracklodgeandresort one mile up the road from the village.
I love a good hotel lobby for reading and people watching, and the new Regent Santa Monica will offer a fine one when it fully opens to the public in a few weeks. Orla restaurant here serves seriously good Mediterranean food (whipped hummus, lobster salad) and the pier is just outside. Review TK Friday.
