This beautiful piece is a traditional Māori weapon known as a Patu. This particular style is called a Mere, a form predominantly associated with women of high rank.
The carved face designs are stylised representations of unfurling fern fronds, known as Koru, representing a powerful symbol of the perpetual life cycle, growth, strength, and new beginnings.
The craftsmanship, the cultural story, and the meaning behind every curve make pieces like this truly special. We’re honoured to see our timber become part of something so significant.
