1 year with you & so much has been more wonderful and new than I ever could’ve hoped for. ā¤ļø It’s hard to believe sometimes that it’s been more than that long since the most radiant, thoughtful, smart, strong, funny, & downright beautiful woman I’ve ever met walked into the bar where I was waiting to meet her and left me absolutely speechless (at times quite literally šŸ˜…). Thank you for making it obvious then and every day since that you think I’m pretty dang alright myself šŸ˜‚ and always being there for me; you really do bring out the best in me. Here’s to all the many years & memories yet to come with best Snugglebug this guy could ever dream of: I love you 😘

- Finally finished my much-delayed outdoor rolling workbench & storage cabinet yesterday! ā˜€ļøšŸ§°šŸŖµThis is probably my favorite thing I’ve built thus far. I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to make this, learned an awful lot in the process & was constantly reminded I still have plenty more to learn (which is a good thing haha). - I really needed some outdoor storage, but as a renter I didn’t want a stationary shed or locker. I was also in the market for a nicer workbench, so I built this to accommodate both needs! An outdoor storage cabinet with a workbench top that can move with me when I do. - Everything used in the build is made to stand up to the elements & I treated all of my lumber w/ Preserva Wood Tahoe Teak outdoor penetrating oil stain and sealer. The cabinet has ~50+ cubic feet of storage. The 4in caster wheels all have foot pedals to lock their roll and swivel so the bench is stable when in use & are collectively rated for 1,000lbs. The top has a thick extended brim for clamping things I’m working on. For the doors, I added a kicker beneath the center post and false threaded rod anchoring knobs I handmade from poplar that should help to keep everything in alignment over time (and act as a second dummy lock beyond the padlock). There’s also an offset poplar lip on the door seam to help keep water out. Along with this I’m adding weather-tight rubber foam stripping in the joints along the hinges. I plan to put a vise on the bench as well. - There are small errors if you look for them for sure and there are some little things I’d probably do a bit differently if I were to build this again - BUT - overall it serves its purpose very well and I’m super happy with how it turned out šŸ˜Ž - - - - - - - #workbench #furniture #carpentry #shed #diy #build #project

Last weekend’s trip to Sequoia with some of my favorite folks! šŸŒ²šŸ•šŸ” What an absolute stunner of a national park. One of my favorite things when out in nature is when you can’t help but feel just how small you really are & Sequoia delivered on that feeling in spades. Being surrounded by 2000+ year old trees, well over 1 million pounds & hundreds of feet tall. Climbing the steep steps of Moro Rock & not being sure if it’s the view or the effort to see it that’s taken your breath away. Falling asleep to the sound of the Kaweah River’s roaring waters after a long day of hiking and a moonlit night spent laughing around the campfire. Seeing Potwisha Monache pictographs & bedrock mortar holes for grinding acorns into flour at Hospital Rock that remind you you’re far, far from the first person to feel any of this here. Sequoia made me say an honest ā€œwowā€ out loud more than anything has in a long time & like every natural marvel I’ve visited before it, but more than most, left me feeling so excited for the next. (Oh and tbh it was 100% the hundreds of steps at Moro Rock that left me winded šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚, but the view was also breathtaking) #sequoianationalpark #sequoia #nationalpark #hiking #camping #nature

^Process Photos^ Made a stamp! Handmade this bad boy for the pops as a Father’s Day gift, and as you may have guessed from that, yes this is quite the latergram haha. Dad and his bud have a small, but very well done butcher shop back in Indiana they do as a weekend/evening hobby thing & a gathering place for other friends. ā€œThe Chop Shopā€. The dudes love meat & do BBQ competitions, so this of course was a natural next step. Anyhow, greatly aided by the rendering of @samuelgnoble , I made a logo for the shop last year for some signs. I thought some cheap reusable branding might be useful to them, so I made this stamp of the ā€œCā€ of the logo complete with its sleepy & content antlered pig 🐷. The idea was they could use it to stamp the non-waxed outside of wrapped butcher paper & blank paper bags. As an added touch, I made an end grain butcher block pattern wood handle for the stamp, cuz why not. Dad loved it; I’m pretty happy with this one āœŒšŸ»

^Process Photos^ Made a music box! ...Block? I made a music block! This project started when over the holidays, Mom discovered a leprechaun snow globe/music box she loved broke during her & my stepdad’s recent move. I salvaged the music box part after she threw it out without telling her, intending to make her a new one for St. Patrick’s. Mom’s side of my family founded the town of Ireland, Indiana, so it’s always been a pretty big day for us. Well, with all the time I suddenly have on my hands, I figured I had plenty to give towards actually completing this. Toughest part aside from the letters & limiting myself to what materials I already had at home was definitely all the exacto line-tracing. Since I was using brush paint and not spray paint (which is much thinner) aside from the base coat, I not only had to cut the initial design, but also cut along every edge a second time after painting so as not to peel the intricate Celtic knot patterns up w/ it. Last photo shows before/after application of the first clear coat layer. Imperfections abound, but I really don’t care; I’m pretty proud of this lil’ thing~ (the song it plays is ā€œWhen Irish Eyes are Smilingā€)
