For the bag nerds out there: @dispersed.bikepacking nailed this mid sized rear trunk rack concept. Fast and simple all day rear access. Rock solid, light luggage!
Not Mexico, but near Mexican Hat...
Enjoyed a perfect weekend with @kneetank for an overnighter around Cedar Mesa and Valley of God's.
XS Timberjack, getting creative and making things fit! I'd say๐

Ok Here me out - plan a #newbikeday around a big effort on a very different, very heavy bike. It will undoubtedly make said new bike feel amazing right out of the gates, and bring you out of your post big effort/oopsIscratched slump.
I ordered this @eskercycles Lorax several weeks prior to CTR, and the frame happened to arrive while I was out. I'm glad I put it together instead of wallowing and had a chance to take it out this morning for a spin. It was the smile I needed.
This Lorax is that sweet spot geo I've been searching for, and had been trying to make with some MTB frames, even a hayduke most recently. I set up this Lorax slammed and underforked with a 100mm travel to get the angles in the zone between monster gravel and drop bar MTB. Peppy indeed. Good job on this one @eskercycles
I've also come to appreciate @neil_beltchenko reviews on @bikepackingcom . His comments were spot on (both pros and cons) and his riding style seems to align with what I'm looking for in a bike as well. Shout out to Neil, he sold this bike! ๐ธ
I hopped off the trail in BV. Shit, sometimes you feel it, sometimes you don't! I've been struggling with some strange fatigue as of late. Been there for a few weeks, and not sure what's going on. Could just be overcooked. Could just be getting old.
The Colorado Trail is absolutely no joke and laughed at me for thinking I could sneak through for a finish.
Always appreciate the support! Life continues as it does, bikes and events are just for fun and we'll tuck this experience nicely in a package, to simmer for a little while, to become handy fuel for the next thing, when the body feels up to it.๐ชขโ๏ธ
There are many amazing humans having stellar rides out there right now! Keeping pushing, y'all!
Colorado Trail starts Sunday 8/11!
Looking forward to the thin air, hiking and beautiful single track of Colorado high country. Let's see what happens. Ready for it all!

It's been a rough few days friends; we had to put Stella down late last week. Stella's been at my side for close to 15 years, my first dog ever. I know a lot of you had a chance to become friends with this quirky one. She was a super athletic dog until her last few years when old age hit her hard- but in her prime she was a great swimmer and could clip off trail miles in the dead of winter in Ohio, or the heat of summer in Georgia. She was a great companion through a lot of life transitions, drove me absolutely nuts at times, but she was one of a kind.
If you've got a good Stella memory, I'd love to hear it. ๐ท
A few grand loop pics from this weekend. Didn't take too many and focused on the ride, and man was it a good one. A few hiccups with light mounts breaking and feet crumbling up on the Uncompahgre, but all in all a smooth loop!

The Grand Loop begins Friday May 31st from Nucla! 365 miles of challenging Colorado plateau terrain. Slow miles, big smiles. I've been looking forward to this one for a while. Let's see what's in the tank!

Extremely proud of @kneetank for conquering a two day self-supported loop on White Rim. She's had this one of her radar since last fall and has been training and preparing for it. This is arguably one of the hardest ways to do white rim, and she cruised comfortably and confidently both days, through some stiff winds, on a heavy rig AND kept all the boys fueled up with extra snacks and positive motivation. ๐๐
