Thank you to @citizenwatchus for making Wind Up in a Lake 2024 such an unforgettable experience. Thank you also to @tomchapinmusic for the post-dive music!
Today marks the completion of a goal years in the making. Today I wrapped up my TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures certifications in the best way possible. We dove the USS Oriskany which lies 23 miles offshore of Pensacola Florida in 200’+ of water with the flight deck sitting at 150’.
.
We descended past the control tower (which starts at 85’) and down to the flight deck at 146’. From there we made our way to the channels that ran the steam catapults and up to the bow with a max depth of 156’. Great life and incredible 40-50’ visibility of blue water. Everything went to plan and I can now plan and execute dives with required decompression stops.
.
Thank you to @Dwight and @louisvilledivecenter for the top tier training and @niuhidivecharters for the ride!
.
Also, a big shout out to @marcikatelyn for letting me run away in a long weekend to do this and for putting up with my gear purchases over the years as I prepped for this.
Throw back to the dive trip that started it all with a dude I barely knew! Pompano Beach, FL circa 2019 with Pompano Dive Center. Happy 40th birthday @sohl ! Here’s to many more adventures and may your gear never dry.

What a trip diving with @citizenwatchus and @wornandwound at the @windupwatchfair ! The 80’s were alive and well as the boys of @ships.log descended upon Chicago to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Citizen Aqualand. Couldn’t have asked for a better cast of characters! ………….………………………………………………………………………Check out the official write up from @wornandwound at the link in my bio or visiting their page. …………………………………………………………………………………….Special thank you to @sohl , @kyality , @brickro , and @kaito.d_ for organizing everything! What an incredible weekend celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Aqualand with @citizenwatchus at the @windupwatchfair in Chicago. No better way to commemorate such an iconic watch than to dive it in Lake Michigan with @ships.log ! Thank you to everybody involved, it was an honor and a trip to remember.
I was headed back to the boat at the end of an already great dive when I heard these guys off in the distance. They didn’t stick around for long, but it was an incredible experience! Thanks to @derekhaager for some great color editing!
The kids have been wanting to see the northern lights and it was actually Molly’s birthday wish to see them this year. She didn’t have to wait long for that wish to come true. We got a spectacular show tonight!
Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. My grandfather was a POW in Korea and is a driving force in why @projectrecover ‘s mission is so important to me. Please consider making a donation to help support the important work they are doing to bring America’s MIA home.
I had always heard good things about the diving in Tobermory, Ontario. For those willing to brave the cold deep waters of Georgian Bay, it does not disappoint. The Arabia is a 131’ schooner that sank in 1884 and now rests at a depth of 105’. At a bone chilling 44 degrees, this was my coldest dive to date though my suit kept me dry and warm. I fear not the deep…I fear not the cold.
