In the UK, 75% of suicides are men, and suicide is still the biggest killer of men under 50. Yet so many suffer in silence because of stigma, pressure, or fear of opening up. Talking saves lives. Checking in saves lives. B L A C K B E A U T Y I grew up in an era where magazines, newspapers and radio was our social media and Black Beauty magazine was everything to most black households in the UK. It was the Gold Standard for Afro Hair. I remember sitting in hairdressers for hours, flicking through the pages in search for my next hairstyle and fantasising on being the next little girl on the ‘Straight Perm’ Box! (If you know you know) 🤣🤣🤣 As I got older, I attended several shows at the NIA and NEC in Birmingham and also London but I never thought that I would become a Hairstylist and my face eventually appear in the same magazine! I am soooooo proud right now! D E A R R O B From the first conversation we had the Energy was ‘Easy’, ‘Calm’, ‘Authentic’ and ‘Familiar’. I remember saying to you, “you’re a big deal you know” and your response was “NAWWWWWW” with some laughter. I knew from that moment that we would get along. Rob, your achievements are as clear as day, it’s for the world to see (google Rob Morgan) but you still possess a humbleness that is admirable! I hope to continue to remain as down to earth as I possibly can be as I don’t feel there is any benefit in treating someone as if they are beneath you, in order to become!!
