“They won’t put me on stage, I’m gonna make my own stage” I always dreamed of performing on a big stage, I believe that was one of the main reasons why I created this festival. But throughout the journey of building @borderlandmusicfest , I realised the happiness and achievement doesn’t come from me being on the stage anymore, it is actually who I’m able to put on stage. Making my own dreams come true doesn’t excite me as much as making others dreams come true. Seeing the smile of attendees finally seeing their favourite artists, the smile of artists having one of their best moments, the smile of suppliers making one of their best sales, the smile of the team feeling proud of their hard work. These hours of smiles are worth the months of my blood, sweat, and tears. Even though I’m very exhausted, but I promise I will keep making this happen for You, Sarawak, Borneo. “If we were doing this for money, we’d be better off doing something else.” This journey of building the Sarawak EDM festival scene has been the hardest fight of our lives. No one is backing us, no big investors, no powerful hands behind the curtain, just a bunch of young dreamers pushing with everything we have. After announcing yesterday, I’ve been reading all the messages from our Kenyalang Warriors. Just want you to know that, Borderland is a festival that caters for no one but only for the people, which is you. We always make sure your voices are heard, and we plan the festival according to what you like to see and experience, finding the balance sweet spot. This year I can proudly say, Sarawak rave scene is entering a whole new level. This Borderland going to be the best one yet. We have ran through everything from A-Z, upgrading in terms of lineup, stage design, experience, security and safety. We know what you want, we know what we need, and we learned from mistakes. We’re not the type of organisers who run away from problem. We face it, we solve it, and we make it better. No pain no gain 💪🏼 We work not for the money, fame, or power. We work for the heart. I haven’t had proper fun these past few years, until I went back to @itstheship . It was my first rave in two years due to my schedule, but this time I came back with a different perspective. I felt a lot more appreciative of the party, because now I know the kind of hardships the organisers go through to keep this community well and alive. Thank you for coming into my life.
