Just ran into this pic on the left and it reminded me this cliche that is true as well: "You have to have goals, but when you reach to the end and look back, you will understand that it was the journey that matters."
What a journey it was!
----------
When you’re getting schooled in boxing sparring and your last resort is a sneaky illegal low kick just to save your dignity… (at least big bro is extremely satisfied) 😆🙏🏼
----------
What an incredible honor today, once again! Thanks to Ray, I got to meet, have dinner with, and watch the UFC fights alongside one of the world’s greatest Sumo Champions, Konishiki, who reached the “Ōzeki”, second-highest rank in Sumo. Many believe he never became a "Yokozuna", the highest rank, simply because he wasn’t Japanese.
At his peak, he weighed 628 lbs, making him one of the heaviest and strongest sumo wrestlers in history. He shared amazing stories about Japan, training, meals, traditions, and the dormitory life of a rikishi (sumo wrestler)… even about Mike Tyson, who visited their dojo before his famous Buster Douglas fight in the ’90s to get a glimpse of sumo life and training.
We laughed a lot all evening. I shared a few of my own Japan stories as well, including when I fought at the famous Sumo Sports Hall, Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo in '97.
On top of these, he autographed one of the most legendary and brutal sumo photos of all time, featuring himself—his opponent in the photo weighed 340 lbs.
Truly an unforgettable evening! Thank you Big Bro, @sugarraysefo and @konishikiyasokichi i 🙏🏼
I will never forget when we watched @garygoodridge UFC debute back in '96. We watched it a bit later on VHS in Hungary. I think that 13 seconds of brutality has shocked a lot of people around the World. Whohooo! We loved it!
Then in '98 I watched him fight in live at the Pride Fighting Championship 2. in Yokohama, Japan. I was at the cageside as a guest of the Promotion.
Of course from there I saw most of his fights through his career in the UFC, PRIDE and K-1 as well.
And today, 30 years later I had a lunch with him and we were talking about a lot of stories of those days at the other Legend, Ray's house here in Las Vegas...
I still cherish these moments like a kid.
Thank you Gary and of course to Brother @sugarraysefo It's an honor again. 🙏🏼

Aztán '98-ban élőben láttam küzdeni a Pride Fighting Championship 2-n Yokohamában, Japánban. A promóció vendégeként a ketrec mellől néztem.
