These drawings could make an animation, I thought, while my baby cried from the bassinet. (Don’t worry, baby didn’t get ignored and fell asleep on my chest while I made the test) WIP from my next book on PLAY
Every book I make physical object for kids to interact with at events, for Alfie (the Turtle That Disappeared) it’s this slap dash turtle view diorama that I am very attached to
To date one of my favorite props to illustrate! The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is such a charming show and I was thrilled to make the movie poster Reggie himself would be drawing. As can happen, the joke got cut (he’s terrible at hands!) but I still got to see @tracymorgan with it. 🤩 Thanks @courtneytdunn !
My next book is in the works and is the result of lots of observations and conversations about play. The research is my favorite part and I could do it forever (but oops final art is due!). Not everything can make it in the book but then MAYBE I CAN FIND A WAY. Anyway, I am still collecting and it’s playground season so if you’d like to drop a line, please do!
It’s #internationaldanceday so TBT to when @thecenterdanceschool used my book How Do You Dance? For a workshop on the stage of @carlemuseum It makes my heart soooo happy. My hope for that book was that it was a literal jumping off point for educators parents and kids to “let it get weird and see where it goes!”
A very fun job for the juggernaut imagination of @douglaslittleco and @hereticparfum A decade of working together and I still cannot anticipate the brief! As always, the artists he pulls together have made something very special ✨
