Quick question: When you think of soft-close hinges, solid-core doors, or the right area rug, do you think about how those decisions affect sound in your home? You probably should. Sound is one of the most overlooked elements in smart home planning. It shapes mood, reduces stress, and can literally lower cortisol levels, yet most people spend their time on lighting schedules, temperature control, and aesthetics, never stopping to consider all the senses. This is the standard I hold every project to. If you want to work with a designer who thinks at this level, let's connect. Send me a DM to get started. #interiordesign #smarthomedesign #hometheaterdesign #avplanningforhomes #thymeandplacedesign

We care about your home’s final results, but we care about your experience throughout the process just as much. It’s why I intentionally limit the number of projects we take on, so every client receives direct communication, attention to detail, and an entire team that genuinely cares about the final result. The craftsmen I work with aren’t random subcontractors, they’re trusted professionals who take pride in every detail and in the way they do business. If you’re planning a project and value craftsmanship and quality over shortcuts, we should talk. #interiordesign #smarthomedesign #hometheaterdesign #avplanningforhomes #thymeandplacedesign

Everyone wants a home that feels good to live in, and intentional lighting plays a big part in that. Many lighting conversations start with fixtures: What do you love? What fits the space? What makes a statement? Those are fine questions, but they're not the first ones I ask. Before we talk about what goes in a room, I want to know how that room needs to live. Is it the kitchen where the morning starts and the evening ends? Does the living room need to cater to both a dinner party on Saturday and a quiet Sunday of reading? That’s why fixture shopping comes after we’ve already determined the layers, temperature, and ability to shift a room’s mood without the need to touch a switch. It’s what makes the difference between a home that looks beautiful and one that actually feels like yours. Swipe through for the details and save this post for later! #interiordesign #smarthomedesign #hometheaterdesign #avplanningforhomes #thymeandplacedesign

This primary suite transformation was about one thing: creating a space that truly supports how my clients live, both now and into their future. (swipe to see where we started). Notice how natural light floods the tub surround, grounded by a material palette rooted in nature to create a calm, cohesive, and quietly luxurious space. We considered every detail, including a chromatherapy, aromatherapy air bath, automated shades, a custom shower seat, and more. No detail was spared. Yes, it’s the same footprint, but it offers these clients a completely different life. That's the power of thoughtful design. Which feature would you love in your primary bath? Comment below. #interiordesign #smarthomedesign #hometheaterdesign #avplanningforhomes #thymeandplacedesign

Let’s talk about art at High Point this year, because it was worth every photo I took. Here's what I know after 40 years of designing spaces: art is one of the most powerful tools for capturing the feeling you want to create in a home. People don't always think of it as a wellness feature, but it is. In fact, the right piece can completely affect how you feel the moment you walk into a room. Market had several examples of creative approaches, like art tied to a love of reading (anyone else love those book spines?), or favorite record albums framed and celebrated as the art they truly are. Design that’s intentional includes pieces that support your wellbeing, and art is one of the easiest ways to do that. I have a few more High Point recaps coming this month, stay tuned. For now, swipe through and let me know which piece catches your eye. #interiordesign #smarthomedesign #hometheaterdesign #avplanningforhomes #thymeandplacedesign

Excited about this one. On May 8th, I'm joining Jenna Gaidusek (@aiforinteriordesigners ) for a live 90-minute virtual class on AI Humanization & Team Leadership. We're covering how to use AI in a way that actually supports your team, your leadership, and the human side of running a design business. The focus is on strengthening the human aspect of your business, not replacing it. Are you enrolled in Q2? Drop a comment. I'd love to know who's joining us! #interiordesign #smarthomedesign #hometheaterdesign #avplanningforhomes #thymeandplacedesign

AV technology has evolved far beyond televisions and speakers, now just one component of an entire home automation system. It’s also one of the most significant factors in how a home actually performs. When you're working with powered shades, integrated speakers, smart lighting, and zoned HVAC, the wiring and infrastructure need to be planned from the very beginning of a build, the same way you plan plumbing or electrical. Leave it until the end, and you're looking at a costly retrofit that compromises both the design and the budget. Do it right from the start, and technology disappears into the architecture. That looks like speakers where they belong, lighting that supports your wellbeing and adapts to how you actually live, and temperature control and shading that work around your schedule. The goal has never been for a home to feel "smart". It's to make it easier, and more beautiful, to live in. If you had to choose between powered shades, integrated speakers, or lighting set to timers, which would you pick? #interiordesign #smarthomedesign #hometheaterdesign #avplanningforhomes #thymeandplacedesign

I love a powder room project! It’s the one space where a client is almost always willing to be bold and this one is not the exception. Rich textures, dramatic lighting and a custom mirror detail that makes the whole room. The kind of space that leaves a lasting impression on every guest. #PowderRoom #BathroomDesign #InteriorDesign #NewJerseyInteriorDesign

The closing act for my Spring High Point Market was just perfect. Seeing great products great friends and great education capped off by my conversation with Bryan Biga about intelligent lighting was a perfect ending to this market. See you in October High Point. #thymeandplacedesign #hpmkt #designinspiration #designeducation #designfriends
