I love sewing because what do you mean I can see ruffle shorts on Pinterest and then make them for myself in an afternoon out of an old bedsheet so now I have the cutest shorts and they cost me less than $5!
This tutorial is kind of chaotic, so a proper tutorial for how to sew these ruffle shorts is coming soon (check back in approx 2 days!!)

Most of us were never taught how to spot quality clothing… we just learned to trust price tags (but spoiler alert: expensive clothes do not equal quality clothes!)
Here are the 6 things I check before buying anything, whether it’s from a charity shop or a designer rack. Full guide with even more detail on how to shop for clothes you won’t regret buying is on Substack.
Save this for your next shopping trip!
I would also love to know what’s the worst-quality purchase you’ve ever made? Mine was a 120 dollar jumper that bobbled beyond recognition in under a month.
Comment ‘QUALITY’ and I’ll send you the link with even more tips to help you shop smarter <3
Clothes, skincare and life things that are worth your money from someone who’s currently living on a student budget and wants to look after the planet by being a conscious consumer!
Two days before going on holiday I decided I absolutely needed a linen set. As you do… So I quickly whipped this up using a deadstock linen and the Cynthia shirt from Viki Sews pattern (which at this point I’ve made so many times I could do it with my eyes closed). Then I made some super cute matching shorts using my own pattern! Total cost: under $20!!
I rest my case for the magic that is making your own clothes!!
This is also great summer sewing inspiration, for anyone stuck on what to make next!
Pattern: Cynthia shirt @vikisews + self drafted shorts

April has been a lovely month! These are all the things I’ve been reading, eating, playing on repeat, obsessing over, recommending to everyone and treating myself to this month 🫶🏼
I can already tell that there’s going to be a lot going on in May so check back at the end of the month for my next monthly report!

When you think about fashion history you probably think of women’s fashion, but there’s a whole world out there of menswear (both fun fashion clothes and workwear) that’s also part of that story.
The Westminster Menswear archive is one of the few (maybe even the only one??) focused entirely on conserving men’s fashion.
If you’re in London and want to visit its by appointment only, BUT they do have an amazing online collection and if you’re interested in fashion history (designer, workwear, uniforms and everything in between!) you should definitely check it out!

I’m incredibly nosy about other people’s sewing choices… so I went straight to the source! I reached out to some of my favourite sewists and pattern makers and asked: what’s the pattern you keep coming back to?
As you can see, the responses absolutely did not disappoint! And there’s even more of that + more pattern recs on Substack (comment ‘pattern’ or see the link in bio) ✨
I would also love to know what your tried and tested pattern is. Drop your all-time favourite pattern in the comments. I’m always adding to the list!
And… who do you want to hear from next? Tag them in the comments so we can be nosy together!!
P.S. If you want the full list with links, just comment ‘PATTERN’ and I’ll send it straight to you <3
One of my favourite makes from last year is finally getting its time in the sun!
I can’t wait to wear this set again this year and I’m almost recovered from the totally unnecessary stress I put myself under by deciding I needed this set in my suitcase two days before leaving (which required me to actually sew it before I could pack it)…
The pattern I used was the Cynthia shirt from @vikisews and the shorts were made using a pattern I drafted myself!
Fabric is a deadstock I picked up at a @rubysaysrecycle pop-up 💙
