The Salvos Red Shield Appeal is a favourite in our event calendar each year. Thanks go to the Newcastle & Hunter business and community who are opening their hearts and wallets to those less fortunate in our community.
The event was well published and we thank the media partners for helping TT spread the word.
TT was proud to offer both financial and pro-bono support.
Thursday Throwback
The Man From Snowy River was pivotal to Australian cinema when released in 1982. It had amazing success both domestically & globally. Part of the success was attributed to Kirk Douglas who was a huge star able to use his influence to help secure the project’s funding.
In 2024 The Man From Snowy River in Concert was launched and is still touring Nationally with a second encore season about to be announced for Sydney. Our dream project.
A few observations from us about the current marketing environment
It's not just about selling - it’s about solving real problems, proving worth & adding value.
Agility has always been important - perhaps even more so in today’s climate.
Global instability tends to encourage people to look closer to home. Brands should reflect that in their storytelling.
In uncertain times, loyalty becomes your most valuable asset. Customers need to know, like & trust you.
Hobart media was treated to a lavish, brave and seductive appetiser at Spiegeltent’s La Ronde media call today.
Audiences can expect world class provocative talent in an experience which is beyond a show-it’s a dazzling blend of art forms and it opens tomorrow.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Australian film industry was still emerging from the creative burst known as the Australian New Wave. Many films of that era were small, experimental, or urban stories.
The commercial success of Snowy River proved that:
• Large-scale Australian historical stories could succeed internationally.
• Audiences would embrace Australian landscapes, mythology, and period settings.
• Local actors could carry a major film without relying heavily on overseas stars.
It became one of the most successful Australian films of its time & helped encourage more historical & rural stories.
The Man From Snowy River in Concert, is a film to orchestra experience and has been a joy of a project for TT over the last few years.
CHASING THE LIGHT is a photographic exhibition curated by TVISUAL’s photographer Andrew Thurnham, “I grew up in Bar Beach, Newcastle, where surfing and skateboarding were a major part of my everyday life.”
His passion for photography began early. After 20 years chasing the snow Andrew is now back living by the ocean where it all began. He chases the waves - capturing all that we love about our glorious beaches and fabulous lifestyle.
Drop in, have a look and meet Andrew - all welcome.

An expensive uncoupling signals broader shifts in the broadcast industry.
Radio has proven more resilient than many predicted in the wake of digital disruption, which makes the recent imbalance between talent investment and commercial return all the more noteworthy. When a network like ARN appears to put most of its eggs in one basket, the stakes are inevitably high.
While the duo’s ratings have remained strong, ratings alone don’t tell the full story. The broader advertising environment is more complex, and not every brand feels aligned with every program.
For example, with TT’s children’s entertainment products, placement alongside content such as Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson simply isn’t the right fit. Brand suitability and audience alignment matter just as much as audience size.
It’s a timely reminder that in today’s media landscape, strategic balance is everything.
