This is an accurate depiction of my Monday (Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) evening. While my son was enjoying running around in this, I took shelter and checked my emails. It would be silly not to, the boy was at the back and rendered invisible by the weather. A client had emailed with some feedback. It’s been 18 years since my first writing job but I still get nervous about feedback. Yet there it was, clear as day... “Perfect” Well, that photo may look like the end is nigh, but in my mind that is a glowing halo of sunshine bathed in all the colours of the rainbow 🌈 #FreelanceLife #freelancewriter #contentstratergy #brandcopywriter #brandcopywriterconsultant

Hi, I’m Gem, and this is the story all about how my life got twisted upside down. And I liked to take a minute and sit right there.. And tell you how I became the queen of Thunderwolf. #freelancelife #copywritersofinstagram

Freelance fables part 1 Once upon a time there was a freelancer who got busy and didn’t set aside time to market her work. Her pipeline grew tired as she laboured intensively while investing thought in a hypothetical ed-tech/saas business in her spare time. One morning, she woke up to the frightening realisation her business bank account was not as full and rotund as it had once been. How would she feed it? Would it waste away entirely? Tell me it’s not just me 🙏 ………….. Coming soon: freelance fables part 2

We both put makeup on for this strategy session so our little faces could feature in photographic evidence for socials, so here we are! Spent Friday testing out a new offering with Gem Tordoff (@thunderwolf_words ) - basically putting her through the wringer with questions about what she actually does and who it’s for. Turns out when you get clear on what drives your work and what you deliver, everything else gets easier: the outreach, the confidence, the ability to explain what you do. Nice reminder that clarity isn’t a luxury. If you’re feeling fuzzy on your own positioning, struggle to explain what you do, or have spawned products and services that you sense might be ripe for culling, I’m here for you. DM me if you want in.
