Do you ever get in a funk? Wading in your own mind, whether it is hurt, confusion, anger, sadness, or grief. You can’t stay there too long without it taking affect. So what do you do?
I have found myself in this situation this last month. So, in order to shake off the funkiness, I went on a mural tour. For me, it helps to look at other people’s perspectives. Sometimes just seeing the way others see the world can help change your own.
I encourage you to do this yourself. Get out of your own space and find artwork anywhere. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in a museum, at a concert hall, on a stage, a restaurant table or even graffiti on a building. Take the time to put yourself in that artist mindset. It doesn’t matter whether you agree with them, or even like it. Sometimes just trying to see what others think can change the way you do.
It’s been a long couple of years without Mom. I always knew that she and I were close but I never truly realize how much I relied on her wisdom, her heart and her humor.
