The last time we performed at this venue was together with him and would also be our last with him before his untimely passing in 2022. ✣ 𝖎𝖓𝖓𝖎𝖌 Art & Sound at Arena Wien At our next gathering at @arenawien , the trip begins with a series of experimental live concerts and a multidisciplinary art exhibition. Meet the artists of our CONCERT (ambient / experimental): ✣ eskalia (live) @eska.lia [@innig.collective ] @eska.lia is a Viennese mezzo soprano with Greek and Hungarian roots. She discovered her love for dramatic and sorrowful sounds early in her musical education, an affection that deepened during her vocal studies. However, her passion for art and culture extends beyond performing music. She favours artistic and cultural exchange and interdisciplinary concepts and is a resident and co-founder of @innig.collective . ✣ THRVS (live) @thrvs THRVS explores altered states of mind through immersive soundscapes and slow, textural ceremonies, drawing inspiration from West African and Arabic trance induction approaches. Pounding tribal drums, vocal carpets, murmuring soundscapes, shifting rhythmic noise. THRVS has been active in the impro drone/noise duo BOORII, the ambient/drone trio Meru and now defunct experimental rock band Neonstream. ✣ Kevin S. (live) @schwann.kevin (fka Olorr) Kevin S. is on a transformative quest that intertwines art, lighting and music into an ongoing artistic odyssey. Drawing inspiration from various disciplines and scenes, Kevin S. constructs sonic landscapes that defy conventional boundaries and as a light artist with many years of experience knows how to command illumination as art, not just a utility. He’s embracing the essence of multidisciplinary creation, transcending the constraints of genre. What would have been a Sufi ceremony supporting @soraya.huu (that I very much was looking forward to) became a solo concert dedicated to her and the sufi path as she couldn’t make it due to once again being caught in the limbo of visa permits. I tried my best to honor her and raise awareness of the realities of our not-so-privileged peers. Alltoo often as (predominantly white) Europeans we forget how we internalize colonial thinking and how we access and consume cultural heritage and traditions without considering and acknowledging the wisdom keepers and their real life struggles within the systemic inequalities that we profit off. We take for granted how and that such knowledge is made available to us - especially as we celebrate oneness and freedom while they get alienated I feel it is worthwhile to (re-)consider our own position.
