At Lincoln Festival of History, Threshold invites you to explore Lincoln as part of the Reimagining Lincolnshire project – uncovering hidden and overlooked stories from across the county. This is just the beginning. Over the coming months, five digital trails will be launched across the city, creating new ways to explore Lincoln’s heritage through your phone, whenever you visit. At Lincoln Festival of History, you can be among the first to try two of them. FlightPaths by Electric Egg shares powerful stories of people who travelled from across the world to serve in Bomber Command during the Second World War. The People’s Market by Human Studio lets you step into augmented reality and discover the stories of Lincoln’s everyday activists. All you need is your smartphone and some headphones. You can start your journey by finding team Threshold at the info stand inside Cornhill Market during the festival. Part of Reimagining Lincolnshire, made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and produced by Threshold. @heritagefunduk @human___studio @electricegg @thecornhillmarket

FlightPaths by @electricegg brings overlooked stories to the surface, sharing experiences of the men and women who served with Bomber Command from across the world. Over 125,000 aircrew served with Bomber Command, supported by countless ground crew responsible for training, maintenance and keeping aircraft serviceable. While this history is well documented, many of the personal stories behind it are still to be heard. At Lincoln Festival of History on May 2–4, you can be among the first to experience this immersive audio-visual trail across the city. Using the free Echoes Explorer app and your headphones, follow the trail across the city and hear direct testimony from those who experienced these events first hand. Swipe through to see how it works, then come and find us at the info Stand in Cornhill Market during the festival, and we can help you get started! Step into The People’s Market by @human___studio at Lincoln Festival of History on May 2nd–4th. An augmented reality journey exploring everyday activism in Lincoln, past and present. Using your phone, discover virtual market stalls representing the voices, ideas and causes people have stood behind over time. At the heart of the experience is the story of the Sugar Boycott. In the late 1700s and early 1800s, women across the UK, including in Lincoln, chose to stop buying sugar produced using enslaved labour. Small actions, taken collectively, helped spark conversation and drive change. Swipe through to see how it works, then come and find us at Cornhill Market during the festival to begin your journey! Join us from 5pm on Saturday 25 April at Lincoln Arts Centre for Activists & Agitators — an illustrated talk uncovering the stories of Lincolnshire women who challenged injustice and helped shape the rights many of us enjoy today. Led by historian Professor Heather Hughes, this is a chance to hear powerful, often overlooked histories brought to life with insight, care and depth. Part of Reimagining Lincolnshire, made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and produced by Threshold. And the evening doesn’t end there. Stay on for RONiN at 7pm — a visually striking performance following a lone female swordfighter navigating honour, resilience and survival in a male dominated world. Through dance, swordplay and digital projection, her journey unfolds across Japan’s seasons, blending ancient traditions with contemporary storytelling. RONiN is a new collaboration between award-winning choreographer @yukiko.masui and digital artist Barret Hodgson (@vent_media ), produced by @theplacelondon . Two powerful perspectives on women who challenge the world around them, told in very different ways. Last few free tickets for Activists & Agitators available via the link in our bio. ☝️🔗 You can grab tickets for RONiN via @lincsartscentre bio and on their website. #femalevoices #untoldstories #hiddenhistories #ronin #whatsonlincoln

No plans this weekend? Sorted. See the Light lands in Grimsby tomorrow, bringing a free, weekend long programme of light, performance and installation into the heart of the town. You might even spot a couple of familiar names. Migratory Light by Chris McClean and Resonant Pulse by Lucy Mager, both featured at Frequency Festival, are part of the line-up. Resonant Pulse is a multi-channel sound installation inspired by Cleethorpes beach, with speakers arranged in a circle to create a calm, immersive space you can step into. Both commissions were made possible through funding from Arts Council England's Place Partnership Fund and Create North East Lincolnshire as part of the Exploring Digital programme produced by Threshold. From immersive works inside Grimsby Minster to outdoor moments in St James’ Square, it’s a chance to experience the area in a completely different way. If you’re around tomorrow evening, go and take a look! Free to attend, with some indoor works ticketed. Big shout to out to @theculturehousegy for bringing this together! @chrismcclean @createnelincs @aceagrams @lucielle_artist @frequencyfestival @thresholduk #seethelight #ofsh

We had a such great time at DARKFIELD’s masterclass in Grimsby on Wednesday! The workshop explored how DARKFIELD’s work has evolved with new technology, alongside a deep dive into their creative process. Participants got hands-on with binaural sound, creating their own live immersive performances, and we really enjoyed hearing everyone’s creations. The workshop also built on connections from @frequencyfestival , where Threshold presented DARKFIELD’s ARCADE, bringing creatives from North East Lincolnshire together to experiment with immersive storytelling. Big thanks to @darkfield_org for bringing this to @createnelincs , and thanks to @createnelincs for helping to make it happen! This workshop was part of “Exploring Digital” programme in partnership with Create North East Lincolnshire made possible with funding from Arts Council England’s Place Partnership Fund.

Almost at the end of a long day installing. We work across many mediums but at the heart of everything we do it’s about effectively telling a story – regardless of whether we’re shooting stills, film, recording an audio trail or creating an art installation. Our FlightPaths installation is no different and it’s been hugely rewarding to bring this piece together for @frequencyfestival We’ve been working on and building FlightPaths for months now and it’s great to see it come together today. We’ve spent today building the set whilst Neil aligns and perfects the mapping of the films across 16 surfaces. The installation tells the story of the international aircrew who came to Lincolnshire during the Second World War. Pop along to see it at the Barbican Creative Hub from tomorrow. Open 1730-2130 Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st. Free admission. There are also printed trail leaflets which you can pick up if you want to do the FlightPaths audio and visual trail across the city. The FlightPaths trail was created by @electricegg and commissioned by @thresholduk as part of the Reimagining Lincolnshire and Lincoln Connected programmes, made possible with @heritagefunduk and funding from the Be Lincoln Town Deal Fund, with additional support from @aceagrams , and developed in partnership with @unilincoln And, of course, a thank you to @barbicancreativehub for hosting us. For those of you who haven’t visited, it’s a chance to take in the transformation that’s occurred here over the past few years.
