Excited to share the poster design and illustration I made for SCRATCH (2025), a short film directed by Hugo Wood @threetreesfilms
✂️✍️⚫️
It was really fun to work through ideas for this design alongside Hugo, creating iterations of pochoir prints crossed with paper stencils to reveal the hidden layer of anguish that torments the main character, Tom.
🎥🎞️
SCRATCH follows Tom as he attempts to unpick the end of a relationship. In the process, he finds himself assaulted by the memories of a terrible childhood injury that forces him to confront the scar he hides from himself.

Hugo Wood, the filmmaker behind our Slate Film SCRATCH, shared his experience of living with a visible scar for this honest and powerful essay for the nonprofit Changing Faces:
"Despite making films for more than twenty years, I’ve never publicly screened them. I’ve always managed to find something wrong with them – an imperfection that would end up overshadowing everything good. I came to realise this was a symptom of a bigger, more personal problem and challenged myself to overcome it."
Thanks for trusting us with your film, Hugo.
We definitely recommend reading his piece and checking out his work. Link in bio.
A young man is forced to confront the scar across his left eye after his girlfriend leaves him.
Welcome to the FF Slate to the 16-minute drama SCRATCH from director Hugo Wood. FF’s Katie Bignell says: “This is an impressively fluid piece that plays around with past and present with great effect.”
