What a delight to visit with Kevin, founder of @threecircles.studio , and his photography collaborators. I enjoyed sharing some of my facilitation methodologies. The new studio is a great space for people of all ages to connect and capture compelling visuals. Check them out when you’re in Malden. Having a current headshot you feel great about is important for your confidence and your brand, whether you’re an executive, a jobseeker, or an entrepreneur. #SmallBusiness #Entrepreneurship #MaldenMA #PeerLearning CreativesUnite

It was Kevin’s birthday this week!! So we are taking over his instagram to show him how much we care and appreciate all that he does for everybody around him. Thank you to everyone who participated, and if you still haven’t this is a great moment to share an anecdote you have with him and wish him a happy birthday month. I know there are some silly moments in there, so let's hear them! 😂 Three Circles Studio is part of Kevin’s legacy and he is just getting started.

I didn't grow my business by being the best photographer in the room. I didn't shoot to grow my portfolio. I shot to grow my community. I grew it by making the person in front of my camera feel like the most important person to their circles. I started with a 100-ish sf closet for a studio and a terrible portfolio of blurred images and green skin tones. The magic I had, instead, was a clear set of values. And I talked about them openly. During shoots. After shoots. Anywhere people would listen. Those values were simple: the human in front of the camera matters more than the photo we're making together. Care for that person first. Everything else follows. And because of that, the photos were better. Because they felt it. But more than that, people talked about it. Not just online. In real life. At dinner tables and in office hallways. The goal was never to make someone look impressive. It was to make them look like themselves at their best, most authentic, most confident, most unguarded, and most vulnerable. So real, so warm, so 100% them, that their friends and family would see the photo and say... "I know that guy." That's the experience people shared. That's what built the community around the branding. That's what built the business. The camera just happened to be in the room with us. That's all.

Corporate headshots might be the most boring genre in photography. You know it. The people sitting in that chair know it. It's not as sexy as boudoir, as glamorous as weddings, or as generationally significant as family photography. My clients are usually in their 40s or 50s. They've avoided cameras for decades. Their last headshot was something HR forced them to do, shot by whoever gave the lowest bid, in a hallway, under fluorescent lights. They walk in with shoulders up to their ears. Lips pressed thin. Already apologizing for every wrinkle on their face. That's exactly why I love this work. My job, and what I teach every photographer on my team, is to lock in your lights and settings before the client ever sits down. The techie stuff is out of the way. So when they're in front of us, we can just be human. Look them in the eye. Ask a real question. Make them laugh about something stupid. Forget the camera exists for a second. Because when you do that, they forget it too. And instead of staring into a big black piece of glass, they're just talking to a friend.

I had the honor of attending Asian Women Making Impact recently, hosted by Women of Color Entrepreneurs Boston and Asian Business Empowerment Council 💜 Hearing the stories of such inspiring Asian women in this community—their resilience, their journeys, and the way they continue to show up as their true selves—was deeply moving. Moments like this remind me how meaningful it is to be part of a community that uplifts and empowers one another. #asianwomen #asianwomeninbusiness #community #bostonevents #empoweredwomen

On March 25th, I had the honor of being invited to Asian Women Making Impact, hosted by @woce_boston and @abec_ma My first time attending and I couldn’t be more grateful. Listening to the stories of some of the most powerful Asian women in this city… hearing how they’ve overcome obstacles, built their paths, and stayed true to themselves, it truly moved me. Moments like this remind me how proud I am to be an Asian woman. One takeaway that stayed with me: You are most powerful when you are authentic. Thank you to @woce_boston and @abec_ma for the invitation 🤍 And shoutout to @threecircles.studio for the gorgeous photos 📸 #asianwomen #asianwomeninbusiness #smallbusinesses #nonprofits #boston
