The big concrete moon was poured into an old basketball to achieve moonshape. I thought that I had filled it full. When I came back a few days later and pulled the basketball form off of the concrete, i noticed there was a small space left. In that space glowed this crescent moon. We lost Dad on waxing crescent moon. As the concrete settled and dried, there it was. I just had to clean up the edges a little bit with a grinder, then polisher. Nice work Dad.
I didn't know you could miss someone like this.

On display at the entrancing @maisonbodega - today and tomorrow only - Larry, Curly and Moe.
A fresh sculptural screen dedicated to Grandpa Leon.
"Some of my earliest memories find me sandwiched between dad and grandpa on the scratchy bucket seats of grandpa's creaky old Chevy.
I grew up 2 houses down from my grandparents and spent much of my childhood with them. When I was sick, sometimes I'd stay home from school and watch Wheel of Fortune because it was that or infomercials.
Sometimes I'd go to my grandparents' house and grandpa and I would watch the Three Stooges together.
Grandpa Leon was the kind that liked to joke and steal his grandkids' noses (to our horror). He thought the Stooges were funnier than anything else on TV. Now I barely remember the antics they go into, but I can still hear the crunchy chuckly of my grandpa watching those same episodes he'd seen a thousand times.
I feel a connection to The Three Stooges that has nothing to do with their comedy, and everything to do with the formative memories you feel as the true warmth of family deep in your chest.
Larry, Curly, and Moe are dedicated to Leon. I think of The Stooges and a smile crinkles at the corners of my eyes – a trait passed down to my family by grandpa.
I miss you, I love you. I hope you're still laughing."

More favorites from our wedding last August. Thank you @prairiefeatherphotography for this treasure of memory. Each time that I go back to look through, I get the feeling of mom and dad watching along. Seeing through my eyes. Through your eyes. Through our hearts and smiles and tears. I can hear the oooo's and awwwws that mom would give. I can see dad's bright blue eyes well up and sparkle. As he mumbles something true. Only you and @ben_hoffart94 know exactly what I mean.
The steadiness of their love. How infinte it lives.
How we will find our way, all the way, to see them again.
I love you.

VERNAL DEETS
candelabra in ebonized ash and polished steel
1-4. VERNAL was birthed from one solid piece of salvaged minnesota green ash. I knew I wanted two babies from this chunk, so I shaved a third from the whole (which became something you’lll see one day soon maybe I bet who knows). The remaining beefcake became candelabra phase 1 (pic 4).
5-9. Continued carving led to candelabra phase 2.
10-12. On the road to phase 3.
13-15. Salvaged stainless steel chopped up into three moons and polished. Why do I love the stank of burning steel in the morning?
16. A glowing, bleached version of phase 3, right before the black dye. A big hulking part of my heart wanted to leave it like this. But the creature I dreampt of one early morning was jet black with ivory wax dripping everywhere. It was a bit mean and holy. I guess I had to do what I had to do.
17. Dyeing with my hot babes @marp and @zuch .
18. A few high performance clear coats to really make this sultry sweety sing.
19-20. Looks like I now make flame throwers.

The Big Splash hypothesis says that 4.5 billion years ago Earth was smashed into dead center by Theia, a Mars-sized planet from the inner solar system. The resulting ejecta swirled vaporized, molten rock for only hours before coalescing back into three sexy bodies:
1. a swole Earth
2. a big Moon
3. a little Moon
For a few million romantic years of love triangle heaven (or hell), we had two moons.
Due to an expanding big Moon’s orbit, little Moon found itself destabilized – resulting in a slow motion moon collision. Imagine the menstrual cycles. This low velocity smear job – aka the Giant Splat theory – gave us the mountainous highlands of our current Moon’s farside.
Our singular, glorious Moon. Stabilizing our axis at a perfect 23.5 degree tilt. Pulling at us just enough to prevent extreme and chaotic changes in climate. Basically, saving our ass.
Cheers to you, Moon. We love you.
