Today is Earth Day!
It’s a day to appreciate the places that make our region special. The trails where you walk, the forests that provide clean air and water, and the open spaces that give wildlife room to thrive.
At Catawba Lands Conservancy and Carolina Thread Trail, we’re working every day to protect land, restore habitat, and connect people to the outdoors.
In honor of Earth Day, @marsh_properties will match all gifts made to our organization today, up to $10,000, helping protect important natural areas and expand trail access across our region.
Make a gift today to help protect the places you love! Click the link in our profile to give today!

NEW TRAIL UPDATE: We are excited to have partnered with @cltwater to open a new paved multi-use trail connecting the Stowe Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility to Belmeade Drive in Charlotte.
Perfect for walking, biking, or just enjoying the outdoors, this mile-long paved trail will provide a safe, scenic route that connects neighbors to the preserved greenspace around the Stowe Facility. The multi-use path is just one piece of a larger vision for the Stowe Community Benefit Project. Charlotte Water purchased a 90-acre property for the new Stowe entrance road and Community Benefit Project, the majority of which will be preserved as greenspace for future generations.
We are proud to partner with the @friendsofcrowdersmountain and share an upcoming trail workday for anybody interested in helping out with trail work!
Date: Saturday, April 18
Time: 8:30am – until noon
Location: Meet at the Sparrow Springs Visitor Center – 522 Park Office Lane, Kings Mountain, NC 28066
Water, snacks, work gloves, safety glasses, insect repellant, and tools will be provided. Dress appropriately for outdoor work and bring any necessary medications. Event is weather dependent.

After several years in the making, the bridge at Forney Creek is officially complete and ready for use. The northern section of the trail is now open again.
Thank you to @naturetrailsllc who designed and constructed the bridge and also made some great improvements to the trailhead and start of the trail.
And thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible!
Our team recently visited Redlair Preserve for annual monitoring and captured some great spring photos!
Located in Gaston County, Redlair is one of our more unique conservation areas full of ecologically diverse hardwood forests and pristine creeks, as well as rare and threatened plant species unique to the Piedmont.
Generously protected by the Rankin family in partnership with the Conservancy and NC Plant Conservation Program, these special habitats have been preserved since 1999 and will remain safe forever.
Check out the recent podcast from Queen City Green featuring our very own Ashton Lamb, Trail Development Manager with the Carolina Thread Trail, who discusses the benefits of having greenways and trails across our region and a closer look at some trails in the works!
Hosted by John Searby, CEO and Executive Director at @danielstoweconservancy , this episode of the Queen City Green podcast shares some great insights into how you can get outside and begin exploring our growing network of trails in the region.
