It was 2023, @stevensharpejr and I finished rewatching Insecure and I witnessed @issarae create a career out of building up her community. I realized that I didn’t want to just create content and fill my bag on consumerism. I wanted to bring people together and help them create the lives they want. I’ve been so lucky to do the same in my life. The first 8 months were grueling. I didn’t think I’d make it to August. People didn’t get my vision and it was hard to share it. And I realized that it’s hard to convey that vision when most people think you’re trying to get something out of them. Capitalism man. Yes, I obviously want the studio to be profitable, but I feel so much richer when I see people getting what they need out of the studio and finding community. I feel more successful when people find a safe space with me and get to live their dreams because I believe that energy comes back around. Yes, a profit is amazing, but impact is so much juicier. My bag will fill up either way, I trust that. Thank you for supporting @threadstudionyc ! Thank you for spreading the word. Thank you for being there for me when I am and I was down. I’m coming off game night @threadstudionyc and the VIBES ARE HIGH. Every time the world gets dark and my creative energy dwindles, a studio event will roll around and I remember the beautiful people that make up the community around me. That’s the feeling I want everyone to have here. Last week was my last time @threadstudionyc You’re getting the Snyder Cut version of this story lol you asked. But if you want the TLDR 👇🏻👇🏻 - I have been fighting for work and to keep the studio open since April - I made huge strides but my attention was split and I couldn’t give the studio what she needed to grow AND maintain my clients or even our lives - I’m sad, but I’m at peace. I want to take the time now to figure out what I’m passionate about and honestly take a break without major financial burden and stress - I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me over these last two years and especially the last few months. I really hope to return to something like this in the future. - I am sad though. This felt like something bigger than social media, and I’m upset that I had to let this part go. I appreciate you all, and I’ll figure out what’s next. I’m absolutely looking inward because in today’s media landscape, creating content isn’t hitting how it used to for me.
