Yohanna Baez (@emelindabaez ) built the thing every working artist needs and couldn’t find. Growing up in the heart of Los Angeles’ film and TV world, surrounded by creatives navigating an industry that rarely made space for them, she developed an intimate understanding of what artists actually require to sustain their practice. That understanding led her to found ArtistTracker (@_artisttracker_ ), a tool that matches artists with grants, residencies, and fellowships that fit their practice, removing the administrative weight of the search and giving artists back what matters most: their time. We are pleased to present 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴, a digital exhibition by Maryam Faison (@black_phoenix91 ) curated by Sydney Frakes (@sydneynfrakes ), a body of work rooted in botany, color therapy, and a symbolic vocabulary drawn entirely from the natural world. Working in Procreate and Canva, Faison builds meditative digital collages that honor women and specifically Black women through bloom, flight, and color that carries meaning before a single figure is named. Birds, dragonflies, and florals move through her work as carriers of ancestral memory, hair becomes landscape, and faces are left open as an invitation. Deeply influenced by Frida Kahlo’s unapologetic interiority, Faison extends that tradition outward, rendering Black womanhood and womanhood in a register that is softer, freer, and more expansive than the narratives that have historically defined it. We are pleased to present 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴, a digital exhibition by Detroit-based artist Maryam Faison (@black_phoenix91 ). Working in digital collage through Procreate and Canva, Faison builds compositions rooted in botany, color therapy, and a symbolic vocabulary drawn from the natural world. At the heart of this exhibition is a deep and deliberate devotion to women, and specifically to Black women. Faison has described her practice as angelic, futuristic, and softly feminine, a new visual culture built around presence rather than mourning, rendering Black womanhood, and womanhood in a register that is softer, freer, and more expansive than the narratives that have historically defined it.
