Thank you, @channelnewsasia on behalf of our 2026 team: Aulia (Junior Artisan) Fajri (Artisan Assistant) Fitriani (Junior Artisan) Hana (Founder, Creative Direction) Jeanne (Junior Artisan) Justine (Design, HR) Kevin (Administrative Assistant) Misbahudin (Senior Artisan) Verly (Artisan Assistant) 🤳 by Ibu Sari @miftahussariroh We’re grateful to be stepping into our 11th year with a steady flow of commissioned projects. 🏡Teamwork made it possible for us to be where we are today. We’ve had our ups and downs, but each experience taught me not to take things for granted and to remain thankful, especially when things didn’t turn out worse than they could have. To our partners and mentors who continue to journey with us, thank you for believing in us. To our family, who are like the four legs of a table, your support completes us. @luojingmei.writes first reached out to me for a joint Emerge 2025 designers’ article, which later became an exclusive write-up. I remember saying, “What???” 😆 Thank you, Jingmei, for your thoughtful questions. ……. So happy to receive these photos from @supersetdesignstudio Suzhou. Seeing the team’s 4 months of making ☁️ part of a family’s daily life. Steps to making delicate remnants of lace durable and easy to care for. From sorting to washing. From making our first scrappy prototypes (5th vid for the one that made us see this almost “light magnifying” effect), to overcoming the fear of a large blank canvas 🪡 Most thankful for the amazing @studio_hendro_hadinata Hendro, Natalia and Christy, our collaborating product design studio, for crafting a beautiful first scenario for this translucent and dual-sided material. A porous room divider, with removable legs for ease of shipping, storage and repair. Thank you @design.anthology (@jeremysmart @simschultz @suzyannetta ) for this award, it’s an honour and encouragement for our joint team 🙏 Excited to try out new textures with these intricate offcuts, generously donated by bridal and formal wear ateliers in Jakarta 👰‍♀️ @gracieuxatelier @janetilucky.atelier @phangsanny_official @prosa_archive @unme_anna ……. Lace Room Divider 01 (Sabana) Size: H 165 x W 241 cm Year: 2025 Pieced together by hand from bits of lace left behind at bridal shops in Jakarta. Translucent and with two sides, could it softly divide a room into two seasons? Like the colour shifting savannahs of Sumba, Indonesia. In dry season, quiet, sandy white. In rainy season, golden green, full of life. And if you wait for the sun, you might just see a bit of magic. April • Remembering there is a lot more joy in work (than we expect). Seeing what others see. Suriawati’s air kisses hehe. Excuses for reunions. Complexities of family, multi gen craft. Recoveries. Group chats. Safe and shaped by our potter’s hands.

Dropped off these custom twin stool cushions one spring morning at G’s beautiful apartment in Tokyo 🍞 Tried making them more textured along the sides this time. Crow Stools 02 and 03 (Custom) Materials: Linen and poly-cotton offcuts from garment boutiques in Jakarta. Bamboo veneer stool structure from IKEA. Colours: Referencing the Sulawesi Striped Blue Crow, a brown-blue-beige butterfly native to Sulawesi. But feels more like burnt toast. Care: Vacuum or machine wash the removable sleeve on a gentle cycle using a dust bag. 2026 A continued collaboration with Hendro @studio_hendro_hadinata .

Sewing continues, turning out brighter than expected 🙈 Four months ago, Anthony mailed his beautiful "chou chou," a childhood blanket quilted by his grandmother (see last video). Now working as an interior designer in Boston, he's carefully building a new home in Bali to be closer to his parents. For his bedroom, he wanted something that could hold a memory from Kudus (Central Java), where he grew up. He told us about his mother's garden, filled with white and purple water lilies, yellow kamboja, and fruit trees. Mango, nangka, manggis, papaya. At night, whenever he heard a car pulling in, he would run down from his bedroom, past the garden, toward his parents. Thank you @anthonykho_sasih for this project 🙏 Run (2026, work in progress) Commissioned Tapestry, Slash Quilting Material: Anthony's used blanket; fabric offcuts from garment factories in Jakarta. For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb." (Psalm 139:11-13)

This sat in our cupboard for five years, before we took it out again when a friend was visiting. Thank you @jia.curated for picking this quieter tapestry to join your Indonesian craft and design exhibition in @place_by_method Tokyo :) We used to avoid reds. Most of them bleed when washed, staining other fabrics. But eight years ago we received a bundle of precious hand-drawn batik in red cotton. The white wax-resist drawings are kept as they were. How many shades do you see? Red (2021) Collage, Slash Quilting Concept: Hana Lead Artisan: Misbahudin Material: Mix of hand-drawn batik remnants and poly-cotton offcuts. Size: W110 x H90 cm For more info, see pp. 10-11 of our Catalog & Archive. ………. Beautiful intricate lounge chair by @cushcush_bali (a collaboration between Balinese master wood + jewellery + textile craftsmen and french design duo @marcelpoulainstudio ); zipper lamp by @ongcenkuang ; side table and stool by weavers of @duanyam and @bikaliving ; handwoven rug by @celiacarpet 😍

With a language barrier, we looked longer, listened more, exchanged photos of process… Last three days in Tokyo, come :) Sharing this space with fellow makers from back home and hearing visitors’ reflections reminded us why we do what we do. That it is good to simply do something out of joy, and to push its edges further in curiosity and refinement. If you happened to feel or remember something through these textiles, we’re grateful too. Thank you to @jia.curated @budimanong @rudi.m.winata , @yang_hart , @jojovitta and @chacokake and everyone at Place by Method, @yuyamada_method , @_sayaka_sakai_ and @joji___tan for making this possible. Dōmo arigatō gozaimasu 🙌🏼 See you very soon at the beach in Bali! ⛱️ Photography by @bouillonfoto Road to Jia CURATED At (Place) by method, Tokyo April 2 - 19
