Ten years ago, I came here with my mates to soak in these pools, each of us hunched over our own limestone basin, eyes fixed on the swarm of pulsating dots above us,
our eardrums throbbing from the gushing water beneath us. We had just met a group of English girls travelling around Europe in a schoolbus converted into a stoner campervan; the group’s physicist tried to steer the collective ramblings of cooked twenty-somethings back towards "Eusyntropia" - whatever that meant - whilst wearing a Transylvanian shepherd’s mask, but physics and logic at that point were merely fuel for linguistic chaos. It was only when we reached these pools that the noise of five stumbling 20-somethings dispersed like moonlight on water vapour.
We stood in these gurgling hollows, speechless, stargazing, thinking that all of humanity, both before and after us, would have experienced the same night from our same steradiant vertex, and we were glad.
