Golden monkey
The golden monkey is a rare and beautiful primate found in the high-altitude forests of Uganda, especially in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, part of the Virunga mountain range. These monkeys thrive in cool, misty bamboo forests that create their perfect natural home.
Their diet mainly includes bamboo shoots, fruits, leaves, and insects. In this moment, this individual was feeding on ants—showcasing their curious and adaptable nature.
Golden monkeys live in social groups and are known for their playful behavior. Though protected, their population remains limited, with only a few thousand left in the wild, making encounters like this truly special.
