Our research is showing that Metabolic therapy can be used as both a prevention and a treatment. PRESS: Metabolic therapy uses ketosis to target cancer’s unique metabolic phenotype, putting selective pressure on inflexible mitochondria that is stuck in high glucose mode. @mymetabolismapp does this. PULSE: Once the body is in therapeutic ketosis (low GKI), you can pulse the unhealthy mitochondria with glutamine targeting strategies & drugs.

The reason cancer cells grow faster with high blood sugar is due to its mitochondria being dysfunctional, being stuck in “high-sugar” mode. Mitochondrial dysfunction also leads to inflammation and more oxidative stress, all linked to major chronic illness. To restore mitochondrial health, ketosis can be a powerful tool for blood sugar control, and allowing mitochondria to switch to fat-burning mode. We’ve prepared a free handbook on mitochondrial health & the fix. Drop a “handbook” below and I will send it over!

Metabolic therapy is a powerful tool to use alongside medical care, but it’s not a cure or replacement. From our research and other early stage clinical trials, we see that therapeutic ketosis is safe, feasible, and associated with extended survival and lower side effects in brain, pancreatic, and breast cancer patients. What is metabolic therapy? When body is in therapeutic ketosis, our blood sugar drops, and we start burning fat (ketones) as fuel. This puts pressure on cancer cells that use 17x more sugar for energy than normal cells, as they now have to compete for limited sugar supply, and normal cells transition to ketones while cancer cells can’t. This puts metabolic pressure on cancer cells, but it doesn’t make them disappear overnight. Comment “handbook” for more information on metabolic therapy. @mymetabolismapp also posts content on how to actually do metabolic therapy, regardless of whether you have cancer or not.

“I don’t treat a diagnosis. I treat a person.” When someone comes to me with cancer, I want them to know this first: You are still a whole human being. Your stress matters. Your mind matters. Your immune system matters. Your healthy cells matter. Your body is not just a battleground. It is part of the strategy. In Part 2 of my conversation with Dr. @thomasseyfriedbc , we go deeper into why the cancer conversation has to include the whole person — not just the tumor. Part 2 is now live. Link in bio. What do you think is missing from most cancer conversations today? #TruthInMedicine #MetabolicOncology #CancerSupport #DrDoneseWorden #ThomasSeyfried #PatientAdvocacy #CancerCare

The ketogenic diet was developed in 1921 at the Mayo Clinic to treat epilepsy by mimicking the effects of fasting. It had its moment — went mainstream in the 2010s and became the most Googled diet in the world — but most people never actually entered ketosis. Low-carb ≠ keto. Without tracking your glucose and ketone levels, you’re just cutting carbs and leaving the real benefits on the table. The Seyfried lab’s research has since found another application of ketogenic diet — cancer management. By mimicking the effects of fasting, the body starts to burn fat (ketones) to substitute for less glucose, which actually works against cancer cells’ biology of glucose fermentation.

Metabolic therapy can be used for more than cancer management. We’ve seen cases where other diseases and conditions are improved when patients also do metabolic therapy on top of their care. That’s because mitochondria dysfunction is closely associated with all these chronic illness. So that means metabolic therapy can also benefit longevity and preventative health… it’s something anyone can do! I’ve created a free guide for starters on metabolic therapy. Drop a “met” below, and I’ll send that over.

Very effective combo to enhance your mitochondria health, which is linked to decreased risk of cancer and regulating the biggest fuel source of cancer — sugar (glucose). If you want to actually do metabolic therapy right, drop a “YES” below, and I’ll send you a message!

Not every clinician who claims to offer metabolic cancer therapy truly understands metabolic oncology. In this clip, @thomasseyfriedbc and I break down how patients can better evaluate whether a provider is genuinely experienced in this space. Key things to ask: • How long have they practiced metabolic oncology principles? • Can they explain the foundational science behind the mitochondrial metabolic theory? • Do they individualize treatment plans or use the same protocol for everyone? • How would they approach two patients with the same diagnosis differently? Because true metabolic oncology is never one-size-fits-all—and patients should be cautious of vague answers, unrealistic promises, or “cookie-cutter” care. Episode 1 is officially LIVE. I’m honored to join Dr. Thomas Seyfried for an important conversation on one of the most pressing questions in cancer care today: Where Are the Clinicians That Facilitate Metabolic Cancer Therapy? In this discussion, we cover: • Why a new metabolic oncology nonprofit is being formed • How patients can identify qualified metabolic oncology clinicians • The foundations of metabolic therapy • Why translating the science into clinical application matters • Nutritional ketosis, GKI, and metabolic flexibility • The impact of stress on metabolic outcomes • Key considerations regarding supplements and vitamins This is the first of several conversations we filmed together with more coming soon. 8/10 averted cancer deaths in the 5 major cancers are actually due to succesful public health campaigns and advances in early detection/diagnostics, treatment has lagged behind. Why? Therapies are not targeting the two primary fuels of cancer cells, glucose and glutamine. . Link in bio for more info on our work. . #CancerResearch #PublicHealth #Prevention

Mitochondria health is key to reducing risk for cancer — but how❓ Dr. Seyfried’s metabolic therapy uses diet (ketogenic diet & fasting) and vigorous exercise to use up most of the body’s glucose, transitioning into ketosis, where the body starts burning fat, giving the mitochondria an energy efficient super fuel. @mymetabolismapp posts free educational content about how to improve mitochondria health with Dr. Seyfried’s methods. #metabolichealth #gki #ketosis #mitochondria #mitochondriahealth
