So grilled lamb souvlaki, feta cheese, olives and herby gigantes plaki from Olive Tree Cafe it is! The tart cherries and red fruits burst with ripe acidity and mellow out with an herbaceous finish. Decanted and over a couple of hours, the violet florals and signature green pepper awoke as it warmed up. Pinhal da Torre The Grenache 2020 Tejo, PT Hot wine. Hot food. Much like grenache, motsunabe is both delicate and strong, and similarly they each require a master to coax their flavors into harmony. Ando’s motsunabe is earthy, unctuous and carries hints of spice. I found its match in the grenache’s clarifying acidity, red fruit tones, earthy edge and lingering finish. Domaine Charles Joguet Chinon Rosé 2021 Touraine, FR Made for enjoying pool or beachside. Or on a terrace, late afternoon. Or a company potluck that’s got a spread of bulgogi ssam wraps and tacos, garlicky banchan, caldo verde with piquant chorizo and sweet mochiko chicken. This rosé is a basket of ripe strawberries and covers the whole table wonderfully. Continued in comments

the 5 star treatment at @halekulanihotel knows no bounds. thank you @bybise for a cocktail crawl with a bit of lore and plenty of pūpū. L’Aperitif, the bar at La Mer, is a classy spot to unwind, taste a bit of the past, and possibly get a glimpse of a celebrity. like the restaurant, everything leans super french and i especially admire that the bartenders make their own vermouth, which is used in cocktails but can be ordered on its own any way you prefer. if you enjoy colas, you’ll enjoy their version with 10 ingredients.
