‘Regent Honeyeater’ my recently completed work at Bowral library ( @wingecarribeelibraries )
The regent honeyeater is a flagship threatened native species. Formally known as the warty faced honeyeater this fabulous native is on the critically endangered list where it’s estimated there are only 300 left in the wild.
Within this work I hope to ‘reintroduce’ the regent back into the Bowral and southern highlands area and hopefully bring some awareness to this species.
Pared with the regent is some flowering narrow leaf iron bark.
Special thanks to @wingecarribeelibraries@wingecarribee.shire.council and @southerntablelandsarts

My recently finished Regent Honeyeater artwork at the @wingecarribeelibraries , Bowral library.
The Regent Honeyeater is a favorite of mine and any opportunity I have to talk about and highlight these amazing natives I will.
With this particular work I wanted to ‘reintroduce’ the regent back into the southern highlands area within a bright and eye catching scene.
The Regent Honeyeater is pared with flowering narrow leaf iron bark.
Huge thank you to @wingecarribee.shire.council and @southerntablelandsarts for commissioning this work.
🤩 We’re excited to unveil a stunning new mural by artist Thomas Jackson, created as part of Art in Unexpected Places.
The artwork features the beautiful and critical endangered Regent Honeyeater perched among flowering ironbark. It’s more than just a mural; it’s a conversation starter, inviting us all to learn more about and care for our local wildlife and you can find out all about our native birds through our collections!
🙌 This piece also brings to life what we heard from you during our Library Plan consultation, a welcoming entry and better use of the precinct. Your ideas are shaping spaces like this, and we’re proud to see them come to life.
📚 Next time you visit Bowral Library, take a moment to stop, admire the detail, and simply enjoy!
✨ Thank you to Southern Tablelands Arts for your support with this beautiful mural.

@thomasjjackson is an Australian fine artist known for his contemporary interpretations of natural history, particularly detailed depictions of birds, and botanical subjects. His work draws from traditions of scientific illustration, museum displays, and natural history archives, reworking these references through a contemporary graphic style.
Jackson's art practise encompasses both small-scale artworks and large murals. His compositions isolate individual species against minimal backgrounds, allowing the structure and character of each subject to take prominence. Through this approach, his work sits between contemporary illustration and the visual language of traditional natural history studies.
We are pleased to welcome Thomas for our upcoming exhibition, Australian Fauna. Opening Saturday March 21 at @superwow.gallery
