Giants at the Banks
Right on the descent, out of the blue, this absolute giant of a whale shark appeared… prehistoric, slow-moving, like something that wandered straight out of Jurassic Park.
An unreal encounter. It kept circling back, curious, calm, just checking us out while we took it all in.
Another epic day at Gordo Banks
The silkies are back!!!
May and June at Gordo Banks don’t mess around. Hammerheads cruising through and silky sharks joining the mix.
Safety stops just got a lot more interesting.
Gordo Banks doing its thing today.
Sneaky hammerhead wasn’t about to let the jacks steal the show. Just slid in and changed the whole mood.
DM to join the magic!

Not all ghosts are stories… some glide right past you.
Sand tiger shark at Gordo Banks.
Cruising over the reef.
12 feet of pure shark. Unreal encounter.
This is Gordo Banks.
Some encounters don’t just happen… they look straight back at you 🖤
Orcas don’t pass by unnoticed. They scan you. Slow, deliberate, curious. That iconic black-and-white silhouette gliding through the blue, and then… eye contact. Real, intelligent, “I-see-you” eye contact.
It’s humbling. It’s surreal. And it’s something you never forget.
Who’s ready for that moment?
A little glimpse behind the scenes of a Gordo Banks day!
From early morning briefings, to loading up with Capitán Ramón, to that satisfying back roll into the blue… this is what a “normal” day looks like for us.
It’s not just the dives it’s the teamwork, the prep, the tank hauling, the laughs between it all, and the quiet moments out on the ocean before the chaos begins.
Gordo Banks days are big, wild, and always a little unpredictable… just how we like it!!

A surprise visitor at Gordo Banks today!
This sneaky Silky and its entourage came over to check us out.
A reminder that silky season is soon upon us! These sleek, sneaky sharks are not scared and love to show off for the camera.
Today we’re celebrating the woman behind San Jose Divers. 🎂🌊
From growing up on a farm in the middle of the UK to building a dive shop in Baja… Rosie turned saltwater dreams into real life.
She’s a PADI Instructor who thrives in strong currents, lights up at the sight of a hammerhead, and will never stop hoping for orcas on the horizon. If you’ve dived with us, you’ve felt her calm energy underwater and her stubborn determination on the surface.
As a proudly woman-owned and woman-run dive shop, San Jose Divers carries Rosie’s grit, passion, and saltwater obsession in every dive we run.
If you see her today, wish her a happy birthday.
If you’ve dived with her, drop your favourite memory below.
Here’s to another year of blue water, big pelagics, and building something bold. 🎉
